The radiating fin of the OCULUS at the one World Trade Center. The unique architecture set against the clouded sky really stood out to me here. I've been exercising my film muscles a little more lately and I'm really pleased at the way this photo turned out.

The last of the dark side of the road photos. Fortunately the sun came out soon after and the world returned to "normal".

Found this growing amidst the rocks on the Oregon coast.

Light spilling over Bassenthwaite Lake and onto the hills on a misty morning!

Drone video of the light that morning: youtu.be/u4asu8f27zk

I think this sunrise has to be in my top 5 of the year. Not because of the colour but the difference in light and how it effected the scenery. First off we had pastel colours in the sky then the sun came up over the mountains and you could see the light hitting the hills and working its way towards you!

I was flying the drone when this photo started to take shape and i'll admit it was my girlfriend who spotted the light on the trees. So i quickly landed and lined up the shot.

(Developed an old roll rattling around, and found these!)

Redscaling.

Basically it involves taking a roll of ordinary 'bog standard' print film, reversing it and respooling it into another film canister (all done in a dark bag) so that the light is exposed on 'the wrong side of the film' when you take a shot. You then lose two 'stops' on the optimal exposure conditions from the original. It gets developed in exactly the same way as print film, but be prepared for the technician to be a little startled (at best) or a little irritated (at worst) when they realise that something very odd has happened to the film. :)

We have had many interesting clouds and potential storms roll through our area this past week, but hardly a drop of much needed rain. These radiating clouds mirror the lines happening on the land and in the water. I hope we get a really good rain soon.

It's been a busy week this week and any spare time I had was spent with my eldest who went back to Univeristy this weekend. So posting an older shot today.

I really appreciate all your comments and favourites as always.

An image from 2017. Challenging conditions with strong winds up on the hill. The plus side was a great bit of cloud sweeping through to give me what I needed for this long exposure. there was also a bit of hail coming down during the exposure, and a few droplets ended up on the filter, that meant I needed some time to clean up the image. Once cleaned up, a bit of harsh processing to give me the finish I wanted. Another two versions to come ... one straight mono, and one toned ... couldn't make my mind up. I'll let you judge.

The "Floralis Generica" is a stainless steel sculpture, located at the United Nations Plaza in Buenos Aires, where it occupies the center of a park of four acres, over a water surface. It was presented to the city by architect Eduardo Catalano.

One of its features is an electrical system that automatically opens and closes the flower petals. During the night it closes and its interior radiates a glow purple. At dawn the petals open. To protect her, she also closes when there is strong wind. On some nights of the year (May 25, 21 September at Christmas and New Year's Eve) the flower remains open.
