Not sure how much 'weather' they're going to keep out, being open to the back above the wall. The wall will provide a little bit of respite, but really, it's all a little half-hearted.
The racks themselves are good, with decent space between them. As proved by the Vespa...
ester's rack snapped so we wrapped the broken sides with a strip of tin from a can and then secured it lots with this good duct tape and those really nice zip ties. (pic by ester)
old (but restored) steam train, West Coast Wilderness Railway, running largely through temperate rain forest between Strahan and Queenstown, Tasmania.
It uses a double rack and pinion rail system to get over the mountains. Originally used to haul copper ore from mine to port.

There were a lot of new (to me) bike racks in the city. When I left here in 2000, bicycling was already popular, but it seems to have FUCKING EXPLODED. Everyone was on bikes. And the first bicycle rider I saw today was some dude on a crazy-ass tall bike.
