Hi All & Tim
May I add my thanks to you all and wish you a happy Christmas and lots of good Voling together in 2018. I cannot wait. All those bonfires, cakes and sarcastic humour.
I thought I would be clever and write a piece about Tuesday incorporating some relevant quotes but the effort has quite overtaken me. So here instead are a few lines from a very wise & quotable Englishman .
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.
I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be.
Never close your lips to those whom you have already opened your heart.
There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts.
We forge the chains we wear in life.
No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it to anyone else.
There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.
The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.
Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.
The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.
There are loads more to choose from and I have to say I was very surprised, perhaps I should read some of his books instead of relying on BBC Childrens Dramas from my earlier years when, hard to believe I was a sprog with hopes and the occasional dream, many of which have been far exceeded in life.
My snaps from Flitton are as usual at www.flickr.com/photos/pitzys_pyx/

Hi All,
Many thanks for all your hard work at Flitton Moor on Tuesday. We were slightly down on the usual numbers but it didn’t stop you getting a whole lot done! I know David was pleased with the result and in his own words:
Thanks to all those who turned out on Tuesday at Flitton Moor - you did an amazing job as always.
Re fencing: I was expecting at the very most that half of the fence would be completed - and you did 2 thirds of it. Well done. The FoFM will finish it shortly in the new year.
Thanks also to those who manned the fire - and dragged brash to it. Almost all the was cut down was burnt.
And a special mention to the 6 hardy souls who spent the morning digging nettles.
A Merry Christmas to all, and a healthy 2018,
David
Thank you also to Lucinda, Sue and Erika for helping out with refreshments at lunchtime and to Malcolm and Jackie for such a lovely cake.
The next Tuesday task will be at Sandy Smith on the 2nd January and will be doing a bit more thinning/coppicing in the plantation near the bridge over the Flit plus maybe a few other jobs.
But there will also be a task at Maulden Heath next Thursday (28th) if anyone wishes to come along. The task will be clearing brash and regeneration in the Adder Field and, of course, having a fire; meet at the Picnic Area at 10am.
Thanks for all your hard work this year and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year!

This is one of Fidel Castro's quotable quotes. Google says it means 'ideas can be more than weapons', and, as a guy who don't know Spanish, I have this lousy interpretation.
Lightly raced Curlin was an impressive debut winner when he first got the races on February 3, winning a Glfstream Park maiden race by 12 3/4-lengths. He thrust himself into the Kentucky Derby (G1) picture when he won his second career start, the Rebe; Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park by 5 1/4-lengths, defeating Kentucky Derby hopefuls Officer Rocket (GB) and Teuflesberg.
These performances made him the 4-to-5 favorite in the Arkansas Derby (G2), but even his most ardent fans had to be stunned when the colt drew away from the field down the stretch to win the race with only mild encouragement by a record 10 1/2-lengths.
"He went around the leader with his ears up and still doing it easily," said winning jockey Robby Albarado. "I did hit once underhanded just to make sure he was staying focused. I was impressed with how much he had improved between this start and his last one."
The Arkansas Derby competition was not particularly strong. Other than Curlin only Officer Rocket, who would finish seventh of nine, had a graded stakes win on his resume.
But there is an old saying that arose when someone, pointing out the weaknesses of a field, supposedly asked the winning trainer, "Who did he beat?"
To which the trainer replied, "Whoever showed up."
Except in Curlin's case, he didn't simply beat whoever showed up, he destroyed them and presumably ended any faint hopes any of them might have had about going on to the Kentucky Derby.
The scary thing about Curlin, unbeaten in three starts while leaving his opponents in his wake, is that he's still learning.
Trainer Steve Asmussen understandably felt that Curlin had questions that needed to be answered in the Arkansas Derby, and he got the answers he hoped for.
"Running straight to the wire, not drifting out," Asmussen said. "All of those things were what we had hoped for, and it happened."
Curlin has understandably evoked comparisons to Smarty Jones, who similarly was undefeated after winning the Rebel Stakes and Arkansas Derby. All of Curlin's connections hope the comparison continues with Smarty Jones, who went on to win the 2004 Kentucky Derby as well as the Preakness Stakes (G1).
Future Plans
Curlin's combined winning margin of 28 1/2-lengths in three starts will send him into the Kentucky Derby (G1) as one of the favorites, a far cry from the 30-to-1 odds he closed at in the second Kentucky Derby Future Pool.
Quotable
Jockey Robby Albarado, after riding the colt to victory in the Rebel Stakes (G3):
"He still has things to learn, but when the lights go on there's no telling how good he could be."

... a quotable quote from Andy Warhol
I bought my first Holga Flash Camera Starter Kit, on a whim, a week ago in Manila 'coz my older kids suggested I should try one. They know I can't afford a good digital camera, so I should get the opposite. I got a few rolls of 120 mm color and B and W films not knowing there is no single Photo Studio in Laoag that sells and processes this kind of films anymore. Oh my gosh, I just have to be content with photographing my red Holga until I find a hobbyist who's into Polaroids and such. Any suggestions, dear friends, so I can improvise with 135 film? I'd be grateful:]

Raleigh, NC (Wake County)
The Capitol Area Historic District includes this central square, the surrounding structures - churches on each corner and government offices facing the capitol - and streets extending to the east and west. These streets include a number of distinguished and representative domestic buildings and churches. No commercial buildings are represented. Though the buildings represent a plethora of styles and periods, there is a persistent, identifiable continuity with few intrusions (except for gap sites created by large parking areas). The boundaries of the district roughly correspond to the locally designated historic district. (1)
The square itself became a landscape of commemoration for noble deeds, sacrifices, achievements, sayings, and official sentiments of the state. A third of the memorials pay tribute to individual and events of the Civil War. The largest and earliest of these, a Confederate monument erected in 1894, features a tall stone shaft on an elaborate base, with two statues, decorations, and inscriptions, and cannon placed at Fort Caswell during the War. Other Civil lvar monuments include Gutzon Borglum's statue of Henry Lawwon Wyatt of Bethel, North Carolina, said to have been the first soldier to die in battle; sculptor Augustus Lukeman's sentimental tribute to the women of the Confederacy (1914); a plaque honoring Samuel A'Court Ashe (1840-1938), last surviving commissioned officer of the Confederate States Army and noted editor.
The non-Civil War monuments include a mid-nineteenth century copy of Houdon's statue of Washington; F. H. Packer's statue of Worth Bagley, first American killed in action in the Spanish-American War; statues of Zebulon B. Vance (by H. J. Ellicot) and Charles Aycock, each flanked by tablets of bas reliefs by Borglum and quotable quotations; statue of noted educator Charles Duncan Mciver (1806-1906) by Ruchstuhl; and a large tableau (1948) of the three presidents of the United States claimed by North Carolina: James K. Polk, Andrew Jackson, and Andrew Johnson. (1)

The Shore Line Water Taxi again shows us what "Seinfeld" fans the company is. In this case, Frank Costanza's replacement holiday for Christmas is the name for this boat.
It's amazing how, almost thirty years after its final episode was aired, the show remains popular and quotable. Maybe it's another Festivus miracle?

Mater by "MasterTaker" Casey Myers
HDR taken at the Goldfield Gold Mine in Arizona
Biography:
Mater is a good ol' boy with a big heart and the only tow truck in Radiator Springs. Mater runs Tow-Mater Towing and Salvage and manages the local impound lot. Mater has lived in Radiator Springs his whole life. In his younger days, he used to be a real handful around town, playing pranks on everyone, tippin' tractors, saying inappropriate things at the wrong time, but luckily he's matured a lot since then.
Though a little rusty, he's the quickest towrope in Carburetor County and is always the first to lend a helping hand. He's the heart and soul of Radiator Springs, and doesn't have a mean bolt on his chassis. Mater sees the bright side of any situation and was the first to befriend Lightning, who he now considers his best friend!
Quotable Quote: "No need to watch where I'm goin'. Just need to know where I've been!"

Yes, I know it's still not Supernatural Tuesday. And I know I posted a Charlie Bradbury piece yesterday. Can't help it - I'm in a Charlie groove! Gotta go with it!
As I said yesterday, Felicia Day brings to life a character that all of us can relate to.
She's so quotable, gotta love her! Especially from this episode which only Supernatural could get away with - making The Wizard of Oz reality. Baum was a Man of Letters and Dorothy a hunter? Alrighty then!
Also, don't forget to share, reblog, favorite, retweet, like, heart,
etc my designs of the day posts - each time you do, you get your name entered into a drawing which gives you a chance at winning a FREE Supernatural quote bracelet!
And to make things more interesting, If you 'Like' my FB page
www.facebook.com/EldwenneFantasy and/or start following me on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, We Heart It, FB and all that jazz (I'm @eldwenne on all of 'em!), I'll enter your name FIVE times. It'd be great if you didn't unfollow/unlike, I'm doing this on an honor system; I refuse to obsess over checking to see who unfollows, so let's please play nice : )

The FH Series, is a series of heavy trucks, first introduced by Volvo in 1993 which has remained in production through several generation changes and updates. The FH range is one of the most successful truck series ever having sold more than 400,000 units worldwide
First unveiled in September 1993 as a replacement for the F Series as the FH12 and FH16. FH stands for Forward control High entry, where numbers denominate engine capacity in litres. which shared common cabs. The FH12 won Truck of the Year award in 1994
The third generation FH was launched in 2012 with major technology upgrades, and a new design. The company also introduced the first of its Euro VI engines, the D13K which became compulsory for new trucks from 2014. Other quotable new features are the I-torque driveline and the I-see fuel-saving technology. Volvo Trucks has demonstrated the new Autonomous Emergency Braking system that combines radar and a camera that works together to identify and monitor vehicles in front. The system is designed to deal with both stationary and moving vehicles and can prevent a collision with a moving target at relative speeds of up to 70 km/h. When the system detects a vehicle that the truck will hit at its current speed, the warning system activates a constant red light in the windscreen in order to bring the driver's attention back to the road.

This is to celebrate "Sweeney Todd" the movie release on DVD.
I mean... I just had to. Those of you obsessed will know what I'm referring to - probably the most quotable quote from the whole movie, said by Johnn... er, Sweeney after singing his love song to his razors.
Jack could totally relate. Except instead of razors, it's rum.
