Got honored with providing material for a little quiz in The Observer, 2nd October '11. Can you name them by now? : )

Thanks, Neil, for the scan!

Class! Today we are going to have a QUIZ!

Name which game that goes with which Q.

I hope I can get each Q back to the right game box!

and I still haven't quite reached my Q quota for this quarter!

I baked today, spend few hours in the kitchen.

Hard work.

There was a Nordic comic book quiz this evening. Time for answers was only couple of hours, and questions were plenty and really difficult. Three teams from Finland participated, one team from Tampere and that team gathered in our home. Coffee, tea and pastries before the quiz.

Our team was second!!!! Yay!!! team from Skåne, Sweden won.

Here are the questions:

www.lacasahassel.net/comiquiz/GurgleApe.pdf

We now have a winner, and it is dlc456. Jonesy38 is second with 8 and Clagmaster third with 7.

The answers are:

1. Lancaster 31413 prior to working 1439 to Carlisle on 11 March 1989.

2. Kettering 31464 1820 St Pancras-Derby 20 May 1988.

3. Manchester Piccadilly 31448 1407 to Birmingham 14 August 1988.

4. Chesterfield 31427 1735 York-Paddington 14 August 1988.

5. Liverpool Street 31414 1447 ex Witham 14 December 1988.

6. Patricroft 31101 1259 Manchester Victoria-Liverpool 15 August 1989.

7. Burton on Trent 31434 23 August 1988.

8. Littleport 31424 1935 Kings Lynn-Cambridge 18 June 1988.

9. Barrow in Furness 31272 off 0630 from Manchester Victoria 18 August 1989.

As I expected, 6 and 8 were the most difficult. Not many entries this time, perhaps people grappling with refurbished flickr or making use of the good Bank Holiday weather. Perhaps this is better as a Christmas/New Year thing?

Okay lets play :) who knows what Míša took a photo of, can earn 100points (don´t know what you can do with them yet but nevermind :) )

Would be pleased to find out if possible who this little bird is...☺

I ran a quiz at the Crawley Camera Club this evening. There were about twenty members present who formed up into five teams. The first round was anagrams of the names of 26 photographers - and the score for that round was added in at the end. Rounds three and seven had nine questions and the other four rounds had ten questions. (This is entirely contrary to my usual policy of having the same number of questions in each round - thus I did not have jokers to double the score.)

Round two was plainly the hardest, I showed portraits of ten well-known photographers but they were not readily recognised... their photographs in round six were better known.

Hi all. Oops my mistake. It was Salisbury Cathedral. This is the full image.

Dr. Herbert S. Zim was one of my heroes as a child--he authored and edited many of the very popular Golden Nature Guides (the best pocket-sized guides EVER), and oversaw the production of the diminutive "Quiz Me" series design for elementary age readers.f

No I'm not off to play Scrabble and Snooker with my friend it's a different kind of Quiz Night as I squeezed my body into my super-tight sparkiling cobalt-blue Quiz evening dress. It was just a size-eight and I just prayed that it might fit as I loved it. Thankfully it is a bodycon so it went on even though it was a bit like a tight glove.

I loved these pocket-sized booklets and had several when I was a child.

Crawley U3A has a quiz group which meets once a month and is very enjoyable. We play in teams of three or four which are selected at random each time. A different member of the group acts as quizmaster for each session. The team I was in didn't do too badly coming second out of four - but we came a cropper on the collective names of various creatures (6-10 in the second round) … and we only got five out of twenty of the names of US state capitals, we'd have done better if we'd learnt this song. 😟

Lets see if Clair can guess this one.

We here at Blythe Fifth Avenue, do not normally brag about our “mail days” ** …

Lest it be construed as bragging and boorish ….

HOWEVER, today … we are making the exception ~

Disclaimer AND explanation:

**”mail days” we are referring to here are PURCHASES PHOTOS …. The kind where you BLATENTLY BRAG about how many of YOUR OWN PURCHASES you have received …

We are NOT referring to GIFTS RECEIVED …. i.e., the sweet little thoughtful kindly gifts received from our friends and swap-partners, in which case, it is perfectly acceptable to show the sender how much their kindness and generosity is appreciated, by taking photos and SHARING what a wonderful person THEY ARE.

I am sure anyone with any relative intelligence will “get” this.
