Michael Nicholas Salvatore Bongiorno, better known as Mike Bongiorno, was born 26 May 1924 in New York and died 8 September 2009 in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He was an Italo-American journalist and television host. For the history of Italian television he has been an institution as Italy’s famous quiz master between the 1950s to the 1980s. As such heplayed himself in various films too. Even if he lived in Italy for most of his life, he kept his American nationality until he turned 79.

At the pub quiz this evening, not only did my team - Quiz Momentous - come third, but we won the Quizzler. The prize is 'the bag of tat' including the highly regarded laser fingers. Other 'bits of tat' included fidget spinners, a 'bear in a bag' and toy cars.
A 'drum roll' sound made by people banging their hands of the tables when the laser fingers are announced is just one of many in-jokes at this quiz. Next week, our quizmaster, Andrew, will celebrate 20 years of doing this pub quiz.
