Michael Nicholas Salvatore Bongiorno, better known as Mike Bongiorno, was born 26 May 1924 in New York and died 8 September 2009 in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He was an Italo-American journalist and television host. For the history of Italian television he has been an institution as Italy’s famous quiz master between the 1950s to the 1980s. As such heplayed himself in various films too. Even if he lived in Italy for most of his life, he kept his American nationality until he turned 79.

Doing a pub quiz from home, with my team mates - Jae and Caroline - in their own homes. Confereing with the team by a WhatsApp voice call and listening to the quizmaster on Facebook. Isn't technology amazing?

Meanwhile, Rilly has decided that my TV technology makes a good pillow. Cats are strange.

At the pub quiz this evening, not only did my team - Quiz Momentous - come third, but we won the Quizzler. The prize is 'the bag of tat' including the highly regarded laser fingers. Other 'bits of tat' included fidget spinners, a 'bear in a bag' and toy cars.

A 'drum roll' sound made by people banging their hands of the tables when the laser fingers are announced is just one of many in-jokes at this quiz. Next week, our quizmaster, Andrew, will celebrate 20 years of doing this pub quiz.

The Sun and Doves' quiz

£2 per person. No more than six people per team thank you. Minimum £60 winnings pot guaranteed. Vouchers and gifts for losers. We must be crazy!

Today we went to The Orange Tree for their pub quiz. Our group of 10 split in to two teams, so not to entirely take the piss. Despite working separately, both our teams got 40 points and won the quiz. This meant two bottles of prize wine. Bet the quizmaster bets he didn't suggest splitting :p
