Special wines for special occasions. Partners in Wine Julie and Bronwen guide us up the slopes down the piste and into the devant and apres of fine festive drinking
Christmas in July at The Old Bailey.
Christmas trees and Christmas lights.
Proper tablecloths and napkins. Nice plates. Mulled wine and mulled cider and fancy food.
Oh, and a quiz - which my team, temporarily renamed 'Quizmas Momentous', won. That's another $50 for the Nibbles Kitty - useful as we had spend $66 of our previous winnings on drinks tonight.
It was also the quizmaster (Andrew)'s birthday.
I had a mulled cider and a mulled wine ($13.50 each) as well as walnut crusted, rolled cheese stuffed chicken breast on roasted baby potatoes, maple glazed carrits and port wine jus ($28) which was very nice. For dessert I had an excellent Eton Mess - Mixed berry coulis, merignue and crumbled ginger biscuits with whipped cream ($12).

From the Exhibition 'LONDON LANDSCAPES'
November 2008 - January 2009
Neil Williams is an accomplished photographer firmly based in south London.
Initially inspired by the landscapes of Bill Brandt and Michael Kenna, Williams uses colour in his photography and is treading through a tradition of lansdscape in an exciting direction that is very much his own. Neil's work is, quite simply, fantastically seen and conceived. You cannot fail to want to own at least one of his beautifully produced images the moment you see them...

Last week during Geeks Who Drink, we at the Quizmaster take a photo of the three Yelp teams that played that night.
Shanigans, Team Girl Squad and Satan Gave Me A Taco.
Denver Yelp has been playing trivia as a group for 12 weeks now and tonight will be out 13th.
Although we haven't always been on top (Four #1's so far.) , we've managed to have a lot of fun at GWD.

The young artist developed the project Leuchtende Zukunft (Bright Future) primarily because he wanted to help reduce energy consumption. This protects the environment. The houses themselves emit light, so a great deal of energy for lamps and heating can be saved. High energy-consuming lamps become redundant and lamps and lanterns that give off dim light can be replaced by huge glow sticks.
These sticks, which contain mycelium, are placed in the transparent walls of houses in order to make them luminous. This is how it works: There are 71 kinds of fungi that give off a dim light, among them the *Armillaria* mellea, or honey mushroom. The mycelium of this European fungus glows at night. Placed in a tube, this could replace lamps—at least dim ones.
Emilio Deutsch (*2012) is in the fourth grade at LIBO Montessori Schule in Brunn am Gebirge. He is interested is motorcycle racing and Formula 1 and enjoys watching and playing “Quizmaster” on the app. He loves animals, nature, and likes jumping on his trampoline. In his free time, he conducts experiments with various materials and absorbs knowledge about all sorts of subjects related to nature and science. He is very concerned with the environment and is constantly inventing new things to protect it and keep it clean for the future.

NOT STARRING ANYWHERE
In this undated file photo, promoter and entertainer Chris Roberts (aka Colin Matlock) portrays Colin the Clown. Matlock, who appeared as Colin the Clown for decades and licensed the name to other Balloons around the world, is a very unamusing man who has to spend so much time slapping on fruitcake makeup to hide his personality that he has no time to look for a sense of humour or to check the facts about his underwear.

Had a super-enjoyable evening at Chez Prem et Sheila with their quiz group coming back to their house after more than two years.
Along with us, a few PM folks (Naren and Rajshekar Reddy) also joined.
Ganesh and Atul (seen above) were the quiz-master and assistant and they did a great job with PPT and projector.
The teams were Anya, Pia, Socro, and OTQ (Old Turkey Quizzards).
A steady supply of salt biscuits, murukku, peanuts, and water kept the quizzards in good shape :-)
The things i liked much were:
* The clap questions. At the end of each round (4 one way, 4 the other), there would be one or two of these, open to all. If you think you know the answer, you clap and they check you. You get +5, if you're correct, or -5. I goofed on two ["In the Open era, who has won more singles than Rafa Nadal at the French Open?" and "Who was the Man of the Tournament in the 1999 Cricket World Cup?"] and lost the 10 points that i had got for correctly answering "With what medical condition, till then unknown, did William Renshaw give a walkover to his twin brother in the 1888 Wimbledon final?"
* The Grid: Had 5-10-15-20 mark questions on four subjects (Animals, Art, Tech, and India). You get to choose the question and, if you don't answer, it passes at the same value (no halving) to the rest. We picked Animals-15 and got one of my favorites, mainly due to this crossword clue:
Favorite Crossword Clue Archive
| All right, a sanctimonious creature (5)
The written round (#6) had various types of questions: (max points)
* Identify four logos (20)
* Anagrams: (25)
- I'll make a wise phrase
- He'll mesh crooks
- Aha! Ions made volts
- A bad man no lies
- He bugs Gore.
* 3 sets of ID photos and connection @ 30 points each (90).
Out of a max of 145, we creamed it at 115, missing out on another 10 narrowly.
After a sumptuous break, we capped it off with the Grid (above) and Dumb Charades, with a twist. Take the names of books and add an extra word or two. For instance, Animal Farm Machinery and Oliver Twist and Turn :-)
