When I was a kid, my father sometimes took us to the airport on Sunday afternoons to look at the planes landing at Grantley Adams International Airport. So when my club suggested going to the airport for an afternoon field trip, it was like being a kid again.
I don't usually photograph planes, even though I love watching them. So I admit this was a bit out of my comfort zone. But I'm adventurous so any experiment always yields a lesson at least. :D But most importantly, I had so much fun and met two new friends. Day well spent in my book! For this shot, I was watching the planes pass over and onto the runway. And some were taking off.
As I said before, I love watching planes and hearing the roar of the engines. Amazing marvels of imagination and technology. I've been thinking of calling this series "Taking Flight". I hope that the title is a metaphor for hopes and dreams. I certainly hope that all of ours start taking flight soon. You are only limited by your imagination, so let it soar.
The runway at our airport is a rather short one...well, it's long enough I should say. The same stretch of tarmac that planes land on, they take off from. When the planes that are departing are getting ready to fly, they have to taxi down the runway and turn here. I call this spot "The Turning Point" jokingly. But that is what it is. All of us reach that point sometimes where we have to decide which direction we are heading in...
One thing is clear though, we can't stay there at the turning point.
Wishing you all a great day ahead, my dear friends.

Just another quick shot today as i am practising my levitation shot for tonight, which i must say will be completely different to this, i just hope it comes out wel! :)
I dont really like this as because of where i was standing the join between the shed bottom and the concrete cant be distinguished, so the effect is pretty lame, but it gave me a chance to practice my techniques! I wish i had the guts to try this in town as i think it would be brilliant with a crowd! lol Oh and i am not really doing what you think in case you had any ideas! :P Laters guys!!!
i swore this week was not going to be like last week... that i was not going to be running all over the place like a chicken without a head. but guess what? I am not in charge of the universe... and let me tell you, that kinda pisses me off ;) lol.
but i had a couple of moments today where time did that great slow motion thing like in the movies. where i took a whirlwind time-out and enjoyed the time and space around me.
My friend (i feel lucky to say that) Melanie was kind enough to photograph my children and I today... and that was a great slow motion moment. I love having family photos done... not just for the sheer documentation factor; but also because i really like the feel and energy of the process. i like having my children interact and meet someone who is showing them an art form. i like seeing how in a short period of time they can be captured just as they are. just as i see them. i also like that it makes us look normal and easy going. bwahahahaha.
anyway... i almost forgot my 365 AGAIN b/c i was running all day today. so quentin snapped a quick one for me. I *swear* i am going to shoot this camera and learn to use it. I swear. If it kills me.... and it might ;)
if you're my FB pal, you HAVE to go see the photos Melanie took. .. ... they are absolutely fabulous and I love them to pieces.

I'm no bird photographer but the second day I spotted this guy in the same place very close to the highway, I had to try for a quick shot. A fast U-turn and I was on the roadside in my car shooting through the passenger window. Being buffeted by passing vehicles made it difficult to hold the camera still so I considered myself lucky to get this one.
Last year, I did Project 365, which I hosted on Picasa Web Albums Picasa Web Albums instead of Flickr (I really need Pro :S). This year, I decided to bite the financial bullet and do Polaroid-a-Week, name unofficial.
Anyways, Happy 2011! 2010 was the best year yet, so I'm hoping that 2011 can top it.
Last Sunday, I dropped about 10 rolls of film at Wolf camera to be developed. I'm picking up the negatives tomorrow. :D The events at which they were shot range from Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and hangouts. I'm excited to see the results.
The week wasn't too eventful, except for the arrival of this Polaroid film! $66 for 24 shots, but it's worth it, in my opinion. Actually, when I ordered the film, there was a shipping mistake where the package was never scanned in USPS's facility, thus recording no history of the package ever being shipped. I emailed Impossible, and they said they'd send more film, and then I received the original film! So I'm getting 3 more boxes of film for free! Woo! They even said that if I ever receive the original box that I get to keep it as a company gift. So awesome.
I also began my photography course this week. I felt kinda cool when we all brought in our SLRs and I already knew all of the controls on mine. :) I can't wait to start developing film. I'm hoping that it garners enough of my interest to make me want to start doing it at home. We get our films and start shooting on Monday.
On Friday, Veronica and Erick drove all the way out to my house to hang out for a few hours. I basically dumped as many snacks on the counter as I could find. They quite enjoyed all of the photos in my room, which made me happy because I enjoy them a lot, too. We then played Just Dance and Mario on Wii before they had to leave. We're planning a hang out/sleepover for next weekend.
Today was my extended family's annual Christmas Party. It is always held in January because the date is good for family members living in other states. My grandmother pretty much organizes the entire event. We had a white elephant gift exchange, and I received a Polaroid JobPro2 camera! Another addition to my collection! Now all I need to find is 600 film. ~_~ That should be fun.
My grandmother also has a personal gift for me. She said that they're two cameras that she forgot at her house. I'm hopefully going to stop by her house tomorrow to get them. Woot!
Tonight I've basically decided to dip my feet into a bit of Lomography. I want to buy a 3 lens action sampler and a Quickshot Mango DI-4410 toy camera on eBay. I've looked at photos from both on Flickr, and I'm hooked. :D I'm probably going to buy them tomorrow. Woo!
Goodnight. ^_^
U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Alex Manne, assigned to 982nd Combat Camera Company (Airborne), rappels a cliffside during Fleet Combat Camera Pacific’s Summer Quick Shot 2015 combined joint field training exercise in the Angeles National Forest near Azusa, Calif., Aug. 6, 2015. Shot through the living room window after making a micro adjustment to the 5d2's autofocus settings. I'd had lots of difficulty getting this camera to take acceptable flight shots of this sort - it's a very fine portrait/landscape shooter, but was never designed for quickshot stuff like this. But wildlife shooters were taking very good photographs with the original 5D, being the most accessible FF body around, as it was so much less expensive than the 1D professional series - and much lighter too. So it can be done - if you keep at it?
Been looking over some used F2.8 lenses lately, that extra stop can make all the difference to flight shots, especially in imperfect light.

Not the clearest, but also not a shot I was expecting. I was fairly near the feeder, and Mr just swooped in for a bite. He really is not too alarmed at my presences, as long as I don't move too quickly. I would love to learn more about the cardinal life cycle, as I've already seen one that seems a bit of a teen, and last summer I'm sure there was the adult pair, at least 2 teens, and at least 2 "babes". They sure do brighten up the yard! [I had been calling the male adult "Rhett", but now I don't know if I'm in a new generation.. er, the cardinal, definitely not me.]

PS: I don't know how this looks on the newest version of Flickr, because I'm still using the previous version by setting my page to French. Très bien!
I am a bit surprised at this Explore run! I haven't been able to get to photos too often, so perhaps it's mainly to lure me back. Well, thanks! Explored June 26, # 418.
