I didn't plan for this Eclipse, with special filters or anything, but we still had a good time. We made pinhole cameras which projected the eclipse sharply onto white cardboard, and followed it that way.
But I did, at one point at about 85% totality, quickly point my camera at the sun and shoot. This is what I got.
The star effect must be from the eclipse itself... the moon plus atmosphere plus lens must have created that illusion.
But what baffled us was the perfect tiny little image of the eclipse which appeared down below the image of the sun itself.... you can zoom in on it, and there it is... the eclipse!
In the comments I have a photo of the cool phenomenon of the spaces between the leaves on the trees creating pinhole cameras of their own.... and projecting the image of the eclipse onto the driveway, over and over again. I wish I had thought to sweep the leaves away, but I didn't.
You have probably all seen photos like these already... maybe hundreds of times... but here is my little contribution!
I have learned, from Steven Hromnak, in a comment below, that the star effect is achieved by using a wide angle lens, and stopping way down (25mm is pretty wide angle, but not hugely... and f25 is stopped down pretty far!).
and i should be sleeping like a log.
I use to have a very huge addiction to sleeping pills. I have now stop taking them. However they are always around for those just in case nights. I have not taken one in almost two years. But I do miss the peaceful sleepy time. Night flickr friends. Im out naturally lol
I really like this camera, but the viewfinder is so inaccurate, it's going to take some getting used to. I'm slowly figuring it out.
This is a little grocery store in Long Beach, CA. Bodega means warehouse. I love Long Beach.
I'm off for 2 weeks to do uni interviews and see my girlfriend down south. So I'm all packed and due to having to take my portfolio I have had to take a suit case.... I DONT EVEN OWN A SUIT! :S

There's a lot more on the property than just the train. There is the old plantation house, the museum as well as the distillery. On this occasion, we are only dealing with the newest attraction, which is the train.
I don't normally take photos in such harsh light, but I was exploring the grounds after our ride and waiting for the train to come back around for the next trip. I couldn't resist this shot, even with the fence in the way. :D Always remember that yours shots won't always be perfect or the way you envision them. It's more important to catch memories, rather than perfection.
And I'm back where I started, standing where I got my first view of the train before I went on my own trip. It makes me think of all of those moments that you come back to the start (full circle). I've been having a lot of those recently, for some reason, Maybe there is a lesson to be learned.

Ein bisschen einsam und trotzdem wunderschön ist die Kuldiga im westlichen Lettland. Die Holzarchitektur erinnert etwas an den wilden Westen, ist aber hier durchaus präsent.
Twilight arch on MINI over Palos Verdes. Seeing as how JustGuessing requested a MINI Cooper in foreground of a sunset, I dug through my stock to present this quickshot.

We were on our way up North earlier this year when we caught a huge (trust me, not an exaggeration) plume of thick black smoke coming in from the local landfill, specifically the old rubber tires. Being adventurous, we decided to get upwind of the smoke and stop for a few shots in before heading to our actual destination.
Don't worry, this story ends well. The local fire service were on hand and there were lots of people waiting to give a hand. Plus we were totally safe from both fire and smoke.
To all of you, hope you enjoy the weekend and have an awesome week ahead, wherever you are!

This shot was taken on the return trip home. Back down the hill and back to the station. Using the same track . I'm sitting on the other side of the caboose.
There's a saying that "you can't go home again". Meaning that you can't truly return to where you were in life because you've changed. I've taken some time to reflect at the start of a new decade how far I've come in 10 years. I'm definitely not the same person I was 10 years ago. And I can't wait to see where I go in the up coming 10.

Decided to get behind my friend and take another perspective. He's standing on a dune of marl so at this point, he's slightly higher than me. Perfect for me to get the smoke as an ominous backdrop. He was aware of what I was doing, but he did what we photographers do best. He just kept clicking away. :D

Full disclosure, I did add a bit more steam to make my shot a bit more dramatic and balanced.

We both attended Fujikina in Cologne, where coffee and water were provided. I had just filled my cup when I noticed this gentleman and complimented his look. I asked if someone had already taken his portrait today. He said no, so I put the cup down, placed him in front of the heating beside the coffee corner, and took five quick shots. Less than three minutes later, he was on his way. My thanks to him for agreeing to a portrait from a stranger.
