Out for a nature walk when this Ruby Throated Hummingbird zipped past me to feed in some Juniper bushes.
Masai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi). The Masai is one of four giraffe species and is the tallest of the giraffes and the tallest land mammal. While historically the Masai is the most common of the giraffe species, their numbers are quickly falling from poaching and habitat loss. San Diego Zoo.

Enjoying the late afternoon view at the lake when we noticed a Great Blue Heron flying directly overhead. Quickly grabbing my camera and of course spilling my beer, I did manage a couple of shots as it continued down the lake.

Walking home late last evening I heard a small private aircraft approaching, turning I took a quick snapshot.
The magpies, 7 of them, took advantage of an easy meal this morning. We've had our first snowfall. About 4 inches blanket the ground,
A quick glimpse of a coyote running through the open fields before quickly disappearing into the forest.
Small beautiful quails - maybe around 15-18 cms tall that could be heard in the grasslands. The call is quite beautiful and easy to id. They are quite common in the grasslands of India and Sri Lanka.
Sightings are numerous and they are always seen scurrying away into the grass around rocky cover and disappearing very quickly into the bush. Photographs are tough though since they are small and always stick to grass areas where the grass blades block shots or create challenging autofocus.
We heard a couple of them on a rain soaked dirt road and waited near this mound for them to cross. And when they did, we got some amazing shots of these birds - I guess we only got shots of the males and not the females, but nevertheless delighted at the outcome. The rainy season is breeding season and we are hearing a good number of them these days.
Thank you so much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.
The Wood Hyacinths sneaked up on me this year...Was able to get a couple of shots before the storms moved in again...In my back yard...
Mr Crissy was marching towards the food, trying not to get blown sideways, it was sunny and pretty windy today. If you zoom in you can also see him with a nice big smile.

The Virus chased me out of Florida early this year! My hope is that good health follows all of us ... and that those touched recover quickly
