These containers represent what Australia sends to Malaysia yearly for processing where 25% is on-shipped to Africa as recycled clothing, and the remainder cut into rag and distributed globally.

Fellow Calgarian and Flickrite James posted an image yesterday he was hoping someone could fix (a case of overcooked flash). I decided to give it a quick attempt while I was waiting for the family to wake up.

Here's my super duper quick attempt at it in CS3:

- a couple darken and multiply layers, mostly targeting the original's luminance channel

- smudged the skin tones into the overexposed areas to get some colour info there

- a few other minor tweaks (blurring, burning, orton effect)

- I also cropped out a distracting hand in the background

If I were to spend a little more time on it, I'd paint/smudge in more skin info, work on getting a touch more detail in the teeth and sharpen up the eyes.

My computer had a known logic-boad failure issue, which i've had fixed once before. Too bad it happened again, except by now my baby has been classified vintage by Apple. No parts, no sending it out for a fix, no nothing. :( Poor baby's only 5 years old.

Ah, but frustrated iBook owners love taking things apart and venting on internet forums, and someone suggested this quick fix. Totally works! Looks 110% ghetto, but works!

Recently donated clothing, bailed into 150 kg blocks and ready for loading in to a sea container for the 3,000km journey to Malaysia for sorting and cutting in to rag. The warehouse supervisor takes a moment for morning tea.

Loading the container with bailed charity donations for the initial 3,000km trip to Malaysia for processing.

A small acoustic set i did with a friend at a pub in Oxford on 7th July 2007. Nice.

Charities receive hundreds of thousands of tonnes of donated clothing & textiles per year. They retain less than 10% for sale in their thrift shops for fundraising.

This photo was taken in Enschede, in subdivision Overijssel. MAKOMO and SEBABO and Berty were nearby. It was partly sunny when I made this photo. The prognosis is pleasant with sunny intervals. This photo is taken on Wednesday, August 06, 2008 8:40:53 PM and context-tagged with IYOUIT.

Supplys mostly repaired, PEX piece and a Sharkbite tee, coupler added to get everything working again.

we dressed to match.

I just folded it under so it lied [more] flat. Not perfect, but ... well, it's already been given as a gift so I'll have to steal it back to fix it. Or just have a glass of wine and forget about it.

The warehouse supervisor is preparing already cut rags for further export.

This rag has so far traveled over 6,000km since it’s initial donation to charity.

Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of donated clothing is shipped overseas each year for sorting into rag and by-product. At what cost is the carbon footprint where a kilo of zippers or buttons can be sold for less than 5 cents and cut wool less than 20 cents after traveling 3,000km to do so?

The author of this statue/fountain is Simeon Roksandic (1874-1943). Roksandic was informed that the ship transporting his sculpture had sunk, so he made another copy. As it turned out, the original was not lost, so he ended up with two copies of this sculpture. Currently, this is located in Jezuitski Square, Zagreb, Croatia., and the other is in Kalemegdan park in Belgrade, Serbia

I just watched "Fiddler on the Roof" and this square & statue are quite visible as the setting for a communist demonstration.

One of the most fun photoshoot! My daughter kai got to be with me :) Thanks Quickfix!

Students undergo a 10 week course in fitness and healthy eating. students get into the best shape of their life not from dieting or some sort of unlasting quickfix scheme, they do it the right way, they make good choices which leads to good outcomes.
