Polygonia interrogationis

Named for the little white question mark on the underside. It's sideways and not a great one on this one.

The silver mark on the underside of the hindwing is broken into two parts, a curved line and a dot, creating a "?"shaped mark that gives the species its common name. (see below).

Lies Baas 2011 Found this question mark in the sink this morning. The weird colourings are from the Hipstamatic filter, and lens....the actual sink is not green...greasy, sure...but not green ;-)

Well, I fell back to my PSE 11 to use a technique that I don't normally play around with and added a RGB Filter to give my little paperweight question mark some additional shine! No rotation just lying on it's side on shiny glass and a black backdrop - shine on!!

So my good friend and fellow photographer Allykatimages and I had some fun this afternoon. We set things up in his garage and took a bunch of shots of wine glasses, and wine (aka food coloring in water), with a twist. Not perfect, but I learned a lot and had a great time in the process.

Strobist: AB800, unfiltered at 1/8 power, below table, pointing up at white background. Fired with Pocket Wizards.
