I didn't think it could get any better after this, either.

Not Photoshopped, except for the removal of a few branches, and you can probably figure out where they were anyway. :-P

POST is an ongoing project where I am questioning, do postboxes still have a place in our society? In my generation the everyday analogue process of posting a letter is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Postboxes lie dormant, statues and monuments of a bygone era. The premise of this project is to revisit this analogue process to get as many people involved as possible, mailing postcards in the form of photographs.

Inspired by the Mail Art projects, I want people to photograph postboxes in their travels, print them off and write a reflective statement on the back of the photograph (postcard) and return it to me. These entries will act as the thoughts of the individual in their travels in their day to day lives much in the same way people tweet and update their Facebook statuses. The collection will form a record of people keeping this analogue process alive. All “postcards” sent to me will feature both on the POST blog site, and will feature in the book.

Here's how you can get involved:

1. Take a picture of a Postbox either in your travels or one close to home.

(Landscape as opposed to portrait)

2. Print out at 6 x 4, write a reflective statement on the back of the photo.

(Sorta like a diary entry)

3. Stamp it and return it to: 166 Vandyke Road, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 3HS.

Thanks for taking part!

Glamorous? project: photo shoot questioning the glamour of the fashion industry with problems of anorexia existing. The project was inspired by the outrage that Mark Fast's 'Making Knitwear Sexy' fashion show caused when he used plus sized models. I used warm lighting and colours to make the model appear healthy in the 'Glamorous' side of the shoot, then black and white in the 'Glamorous?' side of the shoot to highlight the stress which the models go through when under the pressure to be thin. I made a pocket watch necklace for this shoot, the chains moved with the body as the model switched poses for the camera. The small watch faces were a subtle reminder that there isn't much time left for these girls who are depriving their bodies of food, and often taking drugs to stay the shape that they are. The denim jacket on this page was part of a textile project: I used a complex pattern for an office jacket but used materials from the Punk era to create the final piece. The shining silver studs reflected the light of the camera flashes as well as the blues of the navy coloured denim they were set into.

The jutting bones of the model inspired me to look into the Heroin Chic fashion movement which was in it's full swing during the 1990's. This project set a foundation for my Skeletal Structures project.

I recently undertook an 'Extended Project Qualification' questioning whether the work of Tracey Emin is REALLY 'Feminist' and this was my accompanying artefact to a 4,000 word investigation. I was first inspired to explore this question further following a visit to Tracey Emin's exhibit at the Venice Biennale in 2008, which first provoked many questions and thoughts regarding her work, following by a more recent visit to her 'Love is What You Want' exhibition at the Hayward in 2011. I created this quilt using applique and freehand embroidery.

For my sustained investigation I am questioning how color affects the way we feel. To go with it this week I decided to take a picture of applesauce and a orange. I wanted to focus more on foods this week instead of nature. To take this photo I got a gogo squeeze and poured it all out on a cutting board. I then moved it around with a knife to get a good position. Then I used ceiling lighting and used movement in the photo. To take the second photo I grabbed a orange, cut it in half, then used ceiling lighting to get good textures on the orange. I used pattern balance in this photo.

Materials: digital camera, photoshop, ceiling lighting

Process: put applesauce on a cutting board and rearranged it a little to get a good position.

size: 11x17

Take this one for questioning
