War damage in the Quartier Guere district of Duekoue, western Cote d'Ivoire. February 2011. The area was attacked by forces loyal to Alassane Ouattara, who claimed victory in disputed Presidential elections held the previous year. The guere people are generally seen to be supporters of the incumbent president Laurent Gbagbo. The fighting eventually installed Alassane Ouattara in the presidency -- aided by French and United Nations helicopter gunships. Many survivors fled to the Catholic mission in Duekoue, which provided a precarious refuge for as many as 15,000 people, as well as to the Celestine Church in the town. They were driven from their homes by attacks from pro-Ouattara militias in January 2011.

Quartier Habous is a neighbourhood of Casablanca erected between 1918 and 1955 to deal with the arrival of many migrants who came from all corners of Morocco , especially the traders from the city of Fez .
The Habous district develops during the French protectorate, mainly from 1920 to 1930 to accommodate several merchant families from various regions of Morocco, including the city of Fez. This migration is caused by the policy of Marshal Lyautey who wishes to separate the residential areas of the Europeans and those Moroccans .
The name "Endowments" refers to the traditional religious assembly that organizes the allocation of housing in the medina.
The plans of the district are designed from 1917 by Albert Laprade , Deputy Henri Prost , then by Auguste Cadet and Edmond Brion .
The Habous is a unique example of reconstruction of Medina where, while respecting the style and traditional habits, the French architects, including Henri Prost , have complied with the rules of modern town planning.
This area is now home to many artisans and especially booksellers
