A slight tear in the fabric of space is about all I can manage for now. With a bit more female life form inspiration I could possibly make the Quantum Leap in understanding attraction.

A little experiment during the snow.

Tried to light this thing with small flash which didnt really come off, partly because of the lack of power and partly because the ambient exposure was being dominated by a nearby streetlamp. Next time I'll take a ladder or an air rifle to sort out the lovely orange colour cast. The rather fetching murky brown colour of the structure didn't help much either, maybe I should just take a couple of cans of paint and a big brush to it!

This is a comp of 2 shots, I've discovered pocket wizards don't work very well at -12 C. Both receivers kept misfiring or not firing at all.

After the cold and the explosion, Shrewsbury eventually got some snow, although nothing like the amount the rest of the county. However, it does set off the Quantum Leap sculpture rather nicely. Note the ice still coming down the river.

Quantum Leap - the new public art in Shrewsbury to mark the bicentenary of Charles Darwin's birth.

Darwin's great, great grandson Randal Keynes officially unveiled the sculpture in Mardol Quay Gardens on 8 October 2009.

With a price tag of £450,000 the work has attracted a few critics! Sticking it behind gates that I had to climb over (ahem) does not help...

The Quantum Leap is a sculpture situated next to the River Severn in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. It was created to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of evolutionist Charles Darwin, who was born in the town in 1809.
