The United States and the Kingdom of Morocco have announced a new initiative on Countering and Preventing Violent Extremism to further advance multilateral cooperation to face this global threat. The two countries will chair a Group of Friends on C / PVE with a broad cross-regional membership to advance work on the issue across Geneva’s multilateral agencies. Ambassador Keith Harper, U.S. Representative to the U.N. Human Rights Council and Ambassador Mohamed Auajjar, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations in Geneva presented the initiative at an information session for U.N. Member States September 7, 2016, with additional comments from Prof. Mohammad-Mahmoud Ould Mohamedou and Dr. Khalid Koser from the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund.
PVE 438N may well be one of only two Post Office J4s left, the other being officially preserved in the PO Museum’s Store at Debden, Essex. PVE 438N, PO serial number 3050581, was new to the Head Postmaster at Cambridge (VE being a Cambridgeshire & Isle of Ely County Council registration) in September 1974. It was an ‘additional’ vehicle, in other words an extra one rather than a replacement, and spent a fairly typical six-year Post Office working life at Cambridge before being replaced (by a Sherpa) in October 1980. However, rather than being sent to auction, it was sent to the Post Office workshop in Southend, restored and then retained by Eastern Postal Region as a locally-preserved ‘Events’ vehicle, under the care of Huntingdon workshop. Now privately owned it is seen here at the Hellingly Festival of Transport on August 29th 2021.
