She told me she's from Jaisalmer, near the Pakistan border. She was at the Pushkar camel fair, I'm not sure why.
The Pushkar Fair, or Pushkar ka Mela, is the annual five-day camel and livestock fair, held in the town of Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world's largest camel fairs, and apart from buying and selling of livestock it has become an important tourist attraction and its highlights have become competitions such as the "matka phod", "longest moustache", and "bridal competition" are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists.[1] In recent years the fair has also included an exhibition cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a team of random foreign tourists. The Imperial Gazetteer of India, mentions an attendance of 100,000 pilgrims in early 1900.
Pushkar is mainly known for the annual camel market, which attracts thousands of tourists. We were there during a more quiet period and enjoyed the peaceful lakeside setting with is ghats, temples and bazar.
The plan shows were we stayed, dined, walked and sketched (Varah Ghat).

The fair is also the time when the varied art of colorful Rajasthan is exhibited in front of the curious tourists. From jewelry items for cattle, ranging from saddles, saddle-straps, beads, strings and cowries, to items specifically exhibited for the human folks, the array of artifacts exhibited is just endless.
These two girls asked me to photograph them in the fair.

The fair is not only for camels, but there are also other animals like horses, cows, bulls. This bull was very expensive. He was heavy, but not aggressive.
Pushkar, Rajasthan, holy place- happy place. One of the oldest existing cities of India. It lies on the shore of Pushkar Lake. The date of its actual origin is not known, but legend associates Lord Brahma with its creation.
PUSHKAR LAKE
According to Hindu scriptures, the sacred Pushkar Lake is described as “Tirtha Raj”, the king of all pilgrimage sites. Legend has it that this lake was consecrated to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe when a lotus dropped from his hand into the vale and a lake emerged in that place. No pilgrimage is considered to be complete without a dip in in the holy Pushkar Lake. Semi-circular in shape and about 8-10 m deep, Pushkar Lake is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats (a series of steps leading to the lake), where pilgrims throng in large numbers to take a sacred bath, and over 400 temples. Most of these temples and ghats in Pushkar are from the 18th century and later, because many temples were destroyed during Muslim conquests in the area (11th – 13th century). Subsequently, the destroyed temples were rebuilt.
Taken at Pushkar Rajasthan. This is the Paavan Pushkar Sarovar where thousands of people come for the Kartik Snan on Kartik Poornima. Pushkar is surrounded by hills on 3 sides and you can get some beautiful views at the time of sunrise and sunset. This view is from our Jhulelal Temple and the ghat is also called Jhulelal Ghat.
