Approximately 80% of cancer cases are caused by environmental factors. In other words, cancer is preventable for the vast majority of people. With the proper knowledge, vigilance, and some commitment most people can prevent cancer.
Cancer is treatable as well if found on time.
Consider that one fifth of all cancers worldwide are caused by a chronic infection, for example human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and hepatitis B virus (HPV) causes liver cancer. Many of these infections are preventable, even curable and if treated could bring down the amount of cancer cases seen per year. The WHObelieves that 30% of the world’s cancer cases could be avoided.
The WHO makes no qualms about the fact that in the absence of timely intervention, cancer can claim the lives of 84 million people worldwide between 2005 and 2015 . . .
Pusa jwala is a Cayenne-type chilli. It is a 3ft tall plant and a prolific producer of hot 3-5in long thin wrinkled peppers which ripen from lime green to orange and then to red in about 85 days. An ideal chilli for flavouring Indian curries. They are pretty hot at 30,000-50,000 Scoville Units
Named due to the scar at the back - from a fight or someone poured something hot over the cat says one of the volunteer community cat feeders that I met in the area of the office.
Kitty Islet, Oak Bay
Victoria BC
The PUSA is confirmed! Typically a winter resident along the Atlantic coast, it is closely related to the Rock Sandpiper, which winters on the Pacific coast. The experts have examined photos by BC birders taken at Kitty Islet, looking at plumage and wing patterns along with coloring of the legs and bill. Specific features were diagnostic for PUSA, and most e-bird reports have now been confirmed. While it was absent from Kitty Islet and Trial Islands yesterday, it made a brief appearance today (Jan 8), so there’s still time to get out for a look and a record photo. The past week has been an exciting one with other rarities in the area, including Clay-colored Sparrow, Harris’s Sparrow, Red-throated Pipit, Rusty Blackbird, and Snow Bunting.
