The color purple represents many meanings of creativity, wisdom, peace, spirituality, mystery, and magic.
Originated from a photo digitally painted.
The insides of a purple crocus flower - wide open to catch as much of the sunlight as it can this spring 2015
These Purple Swamphens are an invasive species in Florida, they are similar to the much smaller Purple Gallinule. The coloration of the Legs, beak and forehead shield make them easy to distinguish from the Gallinule, they are also about 3 times the size. It is believed that they escaped from local bird keepers during hurricane Andrews in 1992. View my previous upload for comparison.
Because of its beauty the purple gallinule is a standout in marshes and wetlands where it usually inhabits. It is often seen rummaging through the edges of dense vegetation, swimming like a duck or walking on water. Its extra long toes, seen in the photo, allow it to walk on top of floating items such as lilly pads, leaves, etc.
This photo was taken in the Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Florida.
The lands are lit with all the autumn blaze of golden-rod, and everywhere the purple asters nod and bend and wave and flit.

A Purple Sandpiper climbing a jetty rock searching for food. This is a life bird for me as I have never seen one of these before. Interesting in that they are called "Purple" sandpipers as I would have expected more purple. Definitely a purple gloss or sheen to their coat though. Image taken on the jetty at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park in Barnegat Light, NJ. View large for best experience. Thanks for stopping by~!
