Eastwoods Park - Iowa
Hiking an area along the Winnebago River on the east side of town . . . looking for these beautiful spring flowers. They are also known as bells, honey-suckle and rock lily.
It's the pure visual simplicity I seek and enjoy in the springtime woods!

Please, have a look on my last gallery: pure visual pleasure - the best of the last time, enjoy the colours and the warmth, and have a great week end :-)
(Original shot: Ready to fly)
I get mesmerized by the cliffs when the fog wraps around them. The contrasts of rough and smooth, hard and soft, colour and white, solid and airy and the constant movement and change are pure visual poetry. I could watch it all day.
Dwarf Daffodils...
The fragrance is heady (mostly from the dwarf Daffs), the sight pure visual pleasure, good for one's senses...
I prefer taking 'uplifting' images...life is tough enough, there is more than plenty of 'darkness' and 'Angst'...
I am not 'hiding' from reality, only refuse to only live with 'that', I want to show there IS still 'ANOTHER', beautiful, side to it... for those who care to look?
Hope this brings a bit of joy again, have a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

I posted this one on my new blog (see below). I am really loving the idea of creating visual stories in combo with the written word. I am sort of curious to give writing a try and get away from pure visual expression. Only time will tell where this goes. lol

Even peak tourist season can't take away from the Louvre's breathtaking but beautiful clash between modern and classical architecture for me. I know IM Pei's work has its haters, and I can appreciate the arguments against it. But the pure visual "wow" factor always wins out for me.

A hypnotic spiral staircase captured from below, drawing the eye into a quiet geometric abyss.
The gentle tones and sweeping curves give this image a surreal, almost gravity-defying feel.
One of those moments where architecture becomes pure visual poetry.
Shot on iPhone.
Munich, Germany.
Color version.
Looking up at this modern building, I was captivated by how the architectural lines created such powerful geometric patterns against the sky. What drew me to this composition was the way these diagonal elements seemed to slice through space, transforming functional architecture into pure visual art.
I chose black and white to strip away any distractions and focus entirely on the interplay of light, shadow, and form. The monochrome treatment emphasizes the sculptural quality of these contemporary facades and creates a timeless quality that transcends the specific building to become something more universal about modern urban design.
What fascinated me was how this perspective transforms our everyday built environment into something almost abstract - where windows become rhythmic patterns, where structural elements create dynamic compositions, and where the functional becomes purely aesthetic. The vertiginous angle adds energy and movement to what could otherwise be static architectural documentation.
My intention was to reveal the hidden artistry in contemporary architecture, showing how modern buildings can be appreciated not just for their function but as sources of visual poetry in our urban landscape.

Tonight it was Mother Nature steeling the show completely. It just couldn't be missed or overlooked. Oh boy, I've got a great series out of this thunderfest! I knew it was coming and I waited for these moment whole day long. Pure excitement and pure visual violence as storm gathered overhead, sideways and in front or me. No shelter in these open fields but the car, which is quite typical in this part of the Netherlands. Multiple exposure times were made, varying from 10 to 100 seconds, and most of them are filled with big fat lightening bolts.
However, the excitement changed into the urge for precaution because this stuff should be taken seriously. More so because I heard on the radio that a woman got struck and killed by lightning of today. For this reason I want to dedicate this one to her and her family.
Also I guess I saw some shorter form of a ball lightning this evening, but I'm not sure because I have no reference, unfortunately. I guess that would be the ultimate goal to capture such a scarce event. The only reference of a ball lightning - or fireballs if you like - I know came from a a student back in 1987. However, I've heard and seen several stories along with some evidence of fireballs entering houses, schools and churches and craters in gardens caused by this yet unknown event.
Anyway, if you ever decide to go outside shooting lightning, here's an informative site about 1.21 Gigawatts!": The Real Facts About Lightning
More about lightning on this Wikipedia page.

The image opens onto a veil of silence, where the black and white accentuates a suspended, almost unearthly atmosphere. The light, powerful and blinding, bursts from behind the curtain of fog, illuminating the steam that dances lightly on the water's surface, creating an ethereal and dreamlike landscape.
Two swans emerge from the shadows, elegant silhouettes gliding on the rippled water, their forms reflected in a play of mirrors and gloom. They are not merely aquatic creatures, but arcane presences, souls moving in a limbo of light and darkness. Their quiet navigation conveys a sense of profound calm, but also mystery, as if they are undertaking a journey into an unknown realm.
The scene is a snapshot of a silent encounter, a moment of grace captured between the mist and the light, where every visual element helps to weave a tapestry of pure visual poetry. It is a daydream that speaks to the soul, allowing space for interpretation and pure emotion.
È un sogno ad occhi aperti che parla all'animo, lasciando spazio all'interpretazione e all'emozione pura.

For those who have been following my stream, they should know by now how I'm drawn to sunsets like a moth is to a flame. I love how the setting sun creates an explosion of colors with the sky. And when the ocean is added to this mix, it's pure visual pleasure.
Here's one from my Labrador Park walkabout.
============
Read more of my misadventures on my blog.
I never get tired of flower-like centers in snowflakes. This one delivers! With a central “button” feature and intricate designs formed by bubbles in the ice, you really need to dive into the details. View large!
The center of this snowflake is where the magic is. The lines radiating out through the center of the “petals” are all bubbles in the ice, and it’s interesting to imagine how they stayed so consistent in their outward growth. This shows a very stable environment in the early stages of this snowflake, which shifted quickly. The broad branches gave way to stellar, dendritic growth on all sides, keeping balance but introducing chaos. Similar features are echoed in every direction, but each has their own unique twist.
The very center, the “button”, has an interesting feature as well. It seems to be two levels tall, a feature I have rarely seen before and I’m not sure I can explain. It’s possible for column-type growth to shift to plate-type growth; that’s how the feature was created to begin with. It’s also possible for it to go in reverse: plate-type growth can start to grow thicker into column-type, but this usually only happens at the edges, creating a scroll effect. The center seems solid, and appears to be protruding from the “initial” hexagon outward. It’s these tiny features that keep me curious, and always craving more details.
The lighting for this snowflake was also very specific. I wanted surface reflection, but I also wanted some level of depth across the snowflake. You can see a slight gradation in brightness across the center, which means I was able to hit the “sweet spot” here. The surface reflection is fading in intensity across this part of the snowflake, and this can only happen within a few degrees. If my angle shifted at all, I wouldn’t see this effect. I need to work quickly, and work handheld for all of these images in order to find the right angle in a matter of seconds and start shooting.
The tips of this crystal have already started to sublimate. Snowflakes evaporate and fade away, a process that starts even before they hit the ground. If you don’t work quickly, then the specimen you photograph will only be a ghost of its former self.
With incoming snowfalls across the Northern Hemisphere, many people will be out there trying to photograph the beauty that winter has to offer on a small scale. For the best guide to studying and photographing snowflakes, check out Sky Crystals: skycrystals.ca/book/ - the 304 page book is well worth your attention!
If pure visuals are more your thing, you should check out “The Snowflake” print: skycrystals.ca/poster/ - 2500 hours, five years, and over 400 crystals all in a single image. Hopefully that makes you at least curious! :)

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!
These ALL wanted to be in the picture, virtually fighting for the light... paahh, bunch of divas! LOL
Hope this brings a bit of joy again, have a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

This past weekend Tom & I ventured away from the western slope of Colorado to nearby Moab, UT. From Fruita, it's a quick 1.5 hrs to what became our home base for exploring the amazing landscape that surrounds Moab.
We were fortunate enough to have our dear friend Rick Louie meet up with us and take us on 3 days of off-road, 4-wheeling adventures. It was quite a thrill for us and endless fun!
Of the many trails that we chose to embark on, probably one of my favorites was the Onion Creek Trail. It was an 11.5 mile 4WD trail that led us through some of the most beautiful landscape ever ... red rock cliffs, mesas, spires, views of the fabulous La Sal Mountains ... you name it. Its name is quite appropriate as well, for at a point, your nose gets a good whiff of Stinky Springs (can you say sulfur smells?). It didn't matter because the beauty of this place, often times meandering through the narrows of the steep canyon walls, overtook any other of your senses except pure visual delight.
This particular capture shows Onion Creek trickling via braided channels alongside the trail. The day was glorious and it was eye candy all around us. Hard to not stop at every corner. I guess that's a good "problem" to have. :-) Thanks so much to Rick again for being our adventure guide. If you haven't checked out his website before, be sure to do so. You'll be glad that you did.
Thanks for stopping by to view and Happy Monday to all.

The lights and glittering bling all stored away again. The room sounded ‘empty’ and hollow. The days are mostly dreary, so, I need something uplifting.
What better than bringing the brightness and fragrance of Spring flowers home?

I prefer taking 'uplifting' images...life is tough enough, there is more than plenty of 'darkness' and 'Angst'...
I am not 'hiding' from reality, only refuse to ONLY live with 'that', I want to show there IS still 'ANOTHER', beautiful, side to it... for those who care to look?

The Boat House
I’m convinced that one could spend a lifetime exploring the Italian Coast and still not see everything. Almost every angle, every rock face, every ancient structure, well every ‘thing’ for that matter, screams with texture and detail. Throw in a sunset here and there for good measure, and you have pure visual magic. (not that silly rabbit out of the hat crap)
This is shot above the beach in the village of Levanto; a small beach town nestled on the Tuscan Coastline, just 2 hours or so south of Genova. It’s one of the many towns that stretches along a truly unique span of rocky coast.
During the next few weeks, I’ll be posting many new photos from some cool new locations. -- (That is of course if the Vodafone store actually opens on time.) -- Check back often for updates.

Just as piston engines fascinate with their intricate mechanical complexity, so do jets wow with their pure visual elegance. Even the bog-standard fan of the bog-standard CFM56 is enough to bring calm and pleasure to the eye...
An interesting detail are the small protrusions seen near the tops of the blades. Called "shrouds", these surfaces help dampen vibration and reduce the effects of various twisting forces acting on the blade when the engine is running - both of which are a consequence of the metal fan's large mass. Though they've been successfully used for decades, shrouds also reduce the aerodynamic efficiency of the blade, decreasing overall engine performance and increasing fuel consumption. Modern composite fans have, however, managed to do away with them, both due to the individual blades' lower weight - and their increased strength and improved internal structure, which make the blade sufficiently resilient without "outside help".

The Attention SL Summer 25 edition arrived in radiant style, offering us pure visual art. I had the privilege of featuring an incredible destination "Bleriot Plage" with an exclusive series of photographs created especially for the magazine. If you haven’t seen it yet, consider this your invitation to explore. Special thanks to Nonge and Belissima for making it all possible.

The splendor of St. Lucia is accentuated by the dramatic finale of an intense rainbow, gracefully descending over the island. The radiant spectrum of colors arcs across the sky, culminating in a vivid and enchanting display that adds a touch of magic to the tropical landscape.
As the rainbow gracefully reaches its end, the scene unfolds with a charming view of colorful houses along the shore. The vibrant hues of the houses, juxtaposed against the deep blue waters, create a picturesque waterfront that reflects the lively and tropical spirit of St. Lucia. Fishing boats dot the shoreline, adding a touch of authenticity to the coastal scene.
This photograph captures the harmonious blend of natural beauty and vibrant human settlements on the island. It encapsulates the essence of St. Lucia's coastal charm, where the convergence of a mesmerizing rainbow, colorful architecture, and the serene presence of fishing boats creates a scene of pure visual delight.
