The man behind the captivating puppets has a life experience that would make the majority of us sad and disillusioned persons. Tony was born a parilytic polio orphan in war-torn budapest. In addition to this he has spent more than half of his life in Nazi or Communist prisons. In spite of this difficult background, Tony has chosen to give to others quaint entertainment with his enchanting puppets.

The flowers for the Pee-wee Herman show recreated by Swazzle puppet builder Artie Esposito were realized as rod puppets.

Puppeteer Haley Jenkins was able to move the puppets one at a time or in unison. When the puppets were unmanned a motor kept them alive and moving. The flowers were voiced off stage by actors Lori Alan, Lance Roberts, and Drew Powell.

Authentic Indonesian traditional art. Truly a vintage puppet theater show.

For World Book Day tomorrow. They all have to dress as book characters and we are going with Alice.

This has been cobbled together from 2 pillowcases (note seam on center of front skirt - it just wasn't possible to get that on the fold). This will be covered with a white pinny so am not beating myself up too much about it.

Petticoats and apron will be made later. As well as a black bow headband.

Chairy, Pee-wee's talking armchair and Playhouse favorite, was recreated for The Pee-wee Herman Show by Alex in Wonderland builders, Mike and Alexandra McGee.

Chairy sports cable controlled eye movements, eye blinks and mouth control. Puppeteer Artie Esposito played Chairy and she was voiced off stage by actress Lori Alan.

The fish were recreated for The Pee-Wee Herman Show by Swazzle puppet builder Patrick Johnson.

During the show they were performed by Sean Johnson, Victoria Johnson and Erik Kuska. At some points during the show, the fish ran automatically thanks to a small motor mounted behind the fish tank. The fish were voiced offstage by actors Lori Alan, Josh Myers.

Seeing as summer has finally arrived, might as well upload a few more from last weeks English Heritage photo-shoot at the soon to be opened beach at Osborne, Isle of Wight.

"A section of beach once reserved exclusively for Queen Victoria is to open to the public for the first time on 27 July 2012. Queen Victoria regularly bathed at the site near East Cowes while many of her children also learned to swim there."

Magic Screen, Pee-wee's walking and talking flat screen monitor was recreated by The Chiodo Brothers and robot expert Mike Regan. Her complex remote controlled system allowed puppeteer Victoria Johnson to move the puppet all over the stage. Magic Screen was voiced offstage by puppeteer, Lori Alan.

I made this puppet show tunic a couple of years ago. My 6 year old enjoyed it for a while. My 4 year old wore it as a dress last year and now as a tunic. I think it's still my fave thing that I have sewn, I'll be sad when it no longer fits my munchkin.

Navy chino fabric with a lovely peached finish.

I forgot how satisfying these are to make!
