While fishing in Ascension Bay, Quintana Roo, Mexico, we came upon this adult, male Magnificent Frigatebird caught in some fishing line.

Frigatebirds, altho they feed from the surface waters, are not waterproof and cannot tolerate getting soaked.

Reid Miller, Moscow, Idaho, and Eduardo, one of our guides from Punta Allen, freed this bird with only one bitten finger.

He was obviously soaked and apparently getting weak from his struggle.
