The Punta Loma Fauna Reserve, with its sea lion colony, is located 17 kilometers from the town of Puerto Madryn.
The South American sea lion (Otaria flavescens, formerly Otaria byronia), also called the southern sea lion and the Patagonian sea lion, is a sea lion found on the Chilean, Ecuador, Peruvian, Uruguayan, Argentine and Southern Brazilian coasts. It is the only member of the genus Otaria. Its scientific name was subject to controversy, with some taxonomists referring to it as Otaria flavescens and others referring to it as Otaria byronia.

The lighthouse at Punta Sabbioni. This photo was taken some time later than this: www.flickr.com/photos/94941635@N07/8805197084/. The mood had completely changed. The storm had gone, and the Sun was already behind a thick veil of clouds. This lent the scene a moody bluish tinge, as opposed to the warm colours of the other shot.
