On the night of March 23, 2026, R110A pump cars were transferred from Coney Island Yard in Brooklyn to Westchester Yard in the Bronx. R255 hybrid locomotives HL001, HL014, and HL017 led the train, towing R110A pump cars P8001 - P8005 (original car numbers prepended with a "P"), R252 flat car F881, and R72 pump flat PF219.

Seen here is car PF219, an R72 built by Garrett Corp. in 1983, on the end of the train as it passes through 125th Street Station on the Lexington Avenue Line. The headlights on car P8005 cast an eerie glow around the pump equipment.

A winters shoot on Cromford Canal in Derbyshire, whilst the sun shone and the water was still, I managed to get this shot of the pump house and chimney being reflected in the canal.

Lunch at the Pump Room - this dessert is really called 'Pump Room glory'. It is vanilla ice cream, strawberry meringue, chocolate brownie and fudge cream (I am actually allergic to strawberries, so this was an indulgence bordering on stupidity - but it was SO GOOD!)

My wife is sexy even to go to work

aken today, 17 Sept 2020 for a family outing only to have lunch at the beach front without even taking a dip. Just enjoyed the sunset and the cool wind atmosphere.

This old well pump has been sitting on the well cover, just waiting for us to install it, oh for years now. It will be super handy for the ducks and the garden.

Including the one this will be used with, we have three wells on this farm, so we're not exactly hurting for water. But non-electric water will be sweet.

Week 50

Pump house on the water. The first three photos from this week come from an adventure through the tunnels of the Boston subway. Scott and I headed down into the subway station and explored each one. We were mainly down there for Scott to shoot something for a photo assignment but we had a good time checking out each station. Some of them are really beautiful. For the rest of the week, I didn't take many photos. Work was pretty busy and I spent most of my nights working on other projects or sleeping. On Saturday though I was able to get out with Eric and have a good time taking photos in Southern Mass. We found some cool locations that we photographed, we hiked though some pathways, it was a good day! We also stumbled upon an Antique shop that may be one of the best I have ever seen. We both picked up some medium format pocket folders and are quite incredible for the price. We will have to go back there soon.

I can't wait to see what this next week will bring!

A tour guide points to a large water pump that used to pump water into the city. The Zorn Water Pump Station is on the banks of the Ohio River at Louisville. Tours nowadays do not allow photography inside the pump station, even with a smartphone.

I loved the warping that my old Samyang fish-eye lens for a cropped APS-C camera gave; unfortunately, the unusual lens was slightly soft. The starbursts it produced (at f/3.5?) were a bit strange, too.

Taken at the old mill site at the Monocacy Civil War Battle field MD. This old pump house provided water for the Civil War era mill.

Go to any shoe shop in town and you'll find black pumps, white pumps and red pumps. If you're lucky you'll also find pink pumps, blue pumps, green pumps and maybe even yellow pumps. What you're never ever going to find though are purple pumps; they are the holy grail of pumps; the impossible dream. I've always found this very strange, as lots of ladies clothes are available in purple. But you're never going to find the matching pumps in any shop, ever. Frustrated by this I turned online and there they were: the elusive purple pumps. Although I couldn't try them on I immediately bought them, and luckily they turned out to fit really well. So here I am dressed in purple, with the matching magical purple pumps on my feet.

Louise is so jealous... 😉

So what do you do when your wife is surfing the internet wearing her new pink pumps? Easy: Take as many pictures as you can! ;)

it really is such a marvelous structure...

Shoutout to Eastboundtrain who takes all the credit for this nice mod that allows this pump to be compatible with pump pegs: flic.kr/s/aHsjVJBNMz

The spring I used had to have the ends cut off, it was too long and the ends weren't wide enough to thread over the locknut that's not removable from the pump shaft. Since this leaves sharp ends on the spring, I covered the ends with shrink tubing. The spring seats snugly inside the handle and totally does the trick.

This pump will go on my upcoming L'Avecaise, which will have pump pegs brazed on the seat stay for this pump.

No chance she can pull the lever unless she climbs. Unfortunatelly climbing was not enough either. :)

I got this Bianchi bicycle 20 years ago. It still works well.

Devon Colliery was the Alloa Coal Company's flagship mine. A Cornish-type engine by Neilson & Co of Glasgow was erected here in 1865 and continued in use until the early 1950s. The engine was dismantled in 1965 but the beam survives along with the restored enginehouse. Sadly the office use of the building does not seem to have materialised and it was empty when I visited.

New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) R3 pump car no. 20128 is seen laid up at Concourse Yard in the Bronx. The car was built by Magor in 1932 as no. 56.

Also visible in the background are R28 no. 7894 (ACF, 1960-1961) and R14 no. 5815 (ACF, 1949), coupled together as part of a mixed consist of compatible "SMEE" cars. The acronym refers to the novel braking system used on the cars, and stands for Straight Air Motor Car Electric-Pneumatic Emergency, and encompasses 12 models of car built for the A Division between 1948 and 1964.
