This is a photo of the 150 gallon collection tank at the base of the slope...collected sap drains down form the left and a pump transfers the sap up to the storage tanks to the right.
A manifold of three ball valves regulate the flow...close off the collection line and open the valve to pump to the storage to pump sap to storage, or open the collection line to allow the sap to flow in the tanks.
I can also close the valve that discharges charges into the tank and open the other two to permit cleaning the pipeline at the end of the season, where clean water is pumped through the whole system.

These pump stations are what keep New Orleans from
constantly being underwater. I heard that there are 3 pumps
in each station. each pump can pump 30,000 gallons of
water per minute. Once the stations went underwater they
were no longer able to pump due to electrical issues.....
this is all second hand knowledge so I can be factually
wrong. But for now I will share this info.
