Three weeks after Tropical Storm Fay, and the water removal efforts continue 24/7 in parts of DeBary.
Many hymns have been sung with the aid of this old pump organ. The organ first belonged to my maternal great-grandmother, went then to my grandmother and then to me.
It once had the top sawed off to hoist it through a window. I can't remember the story why the top was removed, but I've always wondered why it wasn't taken through the doorway.
It's an old Sears Roebuck model, made of quarter-sawn oak. It's in great shape except for the repair to the top.

Back in the day the Water Authority used to make some effort to disguise their pumping stations. Here we see one on Mount's Bay Road built to look like a cottage, complete with garage. If you weren't paying attention you could almost mistake it for the real thing.

Haha, my fave part. Literally as soon as Georgia got a flat, this woman comes out of nowhere and starts pumping. That doesn't work? She hops on her bike and goes to lend another pump of a more suitable size. Well, that couldn't do anything to a punctured tire, so Georgia and Illinois ventured back to the station (and took our map. Hence us getting lost, really).
