The Hotel 'My Home' in Amsterdam, reflected in a tiny puddle. I love that Hotel for its name and the calming light it sends out into the dark, sleazy streets of the best city in the world...there's always a home for those that are far away from home :)
Buildings in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle with a cigarette butt.
One of the interesting things about my new mobile is that it has funky features like auto-focus...even when I don't want to use such advanced tricks. The result are shots like this one, personally I prefer to have the focus on the things in the puddle, but I'll let it slide this time ;-))
As always, no Photoshop, no tricks! I've added a tiny bit of saturation&contrast to this shot.
Sporty dude reflected in a puddle...in the Netherlands it's very common that people will do sports before, after or even during work, everybody is always wearing a tennis racket, hockey stick or other sporty paraphernalia with them and you can tell by the fit way they look that they're actually using them for more than fashion accessories...good for them :)
Personally, I bike around 20-30 kilometers (almost) every day, it's fun and keeps you in shape too :)
Just a wicked puddle reflection of one of the finest Hotels in Europe...with a biker swooshing through the picture :)
Tourists, the Horse lady and buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam.
Thank God it's Friday, yay :D
Have a superduper weekend, do all the things you want to do and nothing else, have a marvelous time and if you get bored, go and buy my wickedcool puddle reflection book, it's good for you ;-D
I've taken various shots of the 'Horse Lady' in the last year or so, check them out :)
Houses in Amsterdam, reflected in a Puddle
Repost - This Picture has been posted earlier, on my free Flickr Account, but I like it so much that I had to post it here again after deleting the other Account...
Puddle reflection of one of my favorite buildings in Amsterd@m, dedicated to Ben, who thinks it's ugly :)
The building is the Haarlemmerpoort
The Haarlemmer town gate is the only gate left of old Amsterdam. These old gates used to surround the city. Others built included: Leidsepoort, Muiderpoort and Utrechtsepoort. They functioned as guarded entrances to the city and as exits out of town. The gates led to the cities with which their names matched: The Haarlemmer Gate led to Haarlem and the Leidsepoort to Leiden. Until 1825, Amsterdam was located inside these gates. Following another city expansion, the gates and the town ramparts became useless and were taken down. In 1840, the Haarlemmerpoort was restored in the classical style by architect C. Alewijn. The gate was then named after King Willem II, after he made his entry into Amsterdam through it in 1840, the year of his coronation. Unfortunately for Willem I, the people of Amsterdam still, even today, call it Haarlemmerpoort.
This is a wicked puddle reflection of the Amsterd@m Tax Office...these people like my money even more than I do!! Suckersssss ;-D
Around this time of the year, we all receive our tax bills and believe me, there are a lot of sad, broke people walking the wet streets of Amsterd@m...but in the end, it's just money, that Shizzle won't make you any happier anyway, so you might as well give it to them, seems that they need it :)))
I don’t normally do the reflection-in-a-puddle thing but I was quite taken with these colours of the facade of The Barras market, Glasgow #barras #thebarras #indoormarket #glasgowbarras #reflection #puddlereflection #glasgoweastend #eastendglasgow #colours #appicoftheweek #fujifilmxt3 #fujifilm_xseries #fujifilm #fujifilmphotography #fujifilmuk #digitalcameramag #glasgowphotographer #glasgowphotography
I was actually really exciting when I thought of doing this shot, but I'm not so sure how well I executed it. For one thing- the puddle was pretty muddy, so that's why the reflection looks so cloudy (it looks like I don't have a head. :P) I might swap this out for a different shot today.
Either way, if I keep this or swap it, I'm going to try and redo this shot next time we get rain because it was fun and I think I might do better. So honestly, what do you think?

This is a puddle reflection of the entrance to the former 'Teasers' on the Damrak, it has been closed down during the crusade against Smut&Evil that our brave city council is fighting, against the will of the citizens of this city, and they won't stop until Amsterd@m has become a clean, family-friendly Disneyland...
Update 11.12.2007 It seems that the 'Teasers' will open again! But the waitresses are not allowed to wear Hot Pants or show off any (semi) nakedness, new rules! Hahaha, this city is sooo crazy :D
Here's a news article about it, sorry folks, it's in dutch only :(

#ds247 Make a photograph that emphasizes a change in texture: smooth/rough, soft/hard, shiny/dull, etc.
The pavement in the parking lot here has a very grainy texture, but the reflection of Canada Place was to nice to pass up :-)
Typical Amsterdam houses on the Rokin and a tram of the GVB (the Gemeentelijk vervoersbedrijf, Amsterdam's Public Transport system), reflected in a puddle...somehow the buildings made me think of Morocco :)
If you depend on the GVB to get wherever you need to be, you're pretty much on your own and you will spend considerable time waiting for their vehicles, cursing them and their forefathers for being often omnipotently incompetent...sometimes I get the impression that the whole company is run by a bunch of baboons! But at least their trams look cool in my reflections, hahaha :D
Luckily I never fell for the concept of having others transport me to my destinations, so I have only broken glass and nails to fear as I ride into the sunset on my trustworthy steel horse called Bikey :-)))
Edited with Picnik.
Puddle reflection of an Ambulance, luckily these good people are not on strike, pheeew! Unfortunately, in the last years it has become somewhat of a national sport to mess with Ambulance drivers when they come to assist hurt people, there were many incidents where they got beat up and threatened, I can't even begin to imagine what makes people do something like that (and it almost makes me wish that they would not show up at all when one of those Dickheads crashes his car into some lamp post and cries for them to come and rescue him!), these Guys are such heroes and deserve our full support!! You go Guys, you're the BEST :))
