Unedited puddle reflection of the Ferris Wheel on the Dam square in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 mobile phone. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)
Well, technically it's not a Circus that came to the best city in the world, but the Fair folks can be freaky too, if you know what I mean...if you are a Fair folk, I mean it as a compliment ;-)
Go to the Dam, have fun, it's good for the economy!
Have a good start into the new week and don't forget to vote for my photo in the 'In love with Amsterdam' contest, thank you! Here's a short news film about the exhibition!
The world-famous Time Out Magazine has just released its first Amsterdam edition and they're featuring one of my wicked reflection shots, yay :))
Go and get a copy before they're gone, they're already sold out in most shops!
See a large version on a white background here!
This is my second publication in a local magazine, last year there was a short interview posted, together with another wicked reflection shot, in the NL20 Amsterdam edition :))
After a Central New Mexico monsoon rainstorm, the sun comes out and clouds are reflected in a standing rain puddle.

Puddle reflection of buildings and a pigeon in Amsterdam.
Some saturation&contrast added, but no Photoshop, no tricks, just a mobile phone shot :)
This pigeon thought I had some food and kept walking through my pictures, so I figured I might as well focus on the stoopid rat with wings bird and make it famous on the Interwebs!
Have a lovely weekend, in the best city in the world it's been raining for days, so I'll stay inside and watch the raindrops falling on somebody else's head :)
Don't forget to vote online for my photo in the 'In love with Amsterdam' contest, thank you!
Puddle reflection of bikers in Amsterdam.
Every morning the mean streets of the best city in the world are crowded by us bikers, and every morning most of us act as if it's the first time we're doing this, for some strange reason I can not understand...
We display an utter disregard for any kind of road rage regulating rules and our own and other folks safety. Bikers will come shooting like bullets out of the tiniest side streets, never wasting a second to look if anybody else is crossing the path, ignoring cars, trams, buses, scaring old ladies with their walking aids, wildly cutting&curving around mothers with their infant children and any other life-form that happens to come near our death-defying metal donkeys...
Sometimes I think we all have a deep death-wish and only ending our lifes crushed under the wheels of a heavy truck will give us the long-sought peace of mind we're all longing for ;-P
Today there was a big national Student demonstration in Amsterdam, the Students are opposing a new law that would force them to sit many additional hours locked up in school without actually getting any lessons...naturally they'd much rather spend those hours beating the wallets out of old Ladies or smoking big-ass Joints on your door step, so to show their opposition to the law, they've spent the last weeks kicking the shit out of Amsterd@m, isn't this a weird world?! ;-))
These young ladies where standing around outside several TV-station transmission cars with their own video cam, obviously hoping to meet somebody famous...Media Whores, haha ;-)
my point and shoot doesn't get out too often these days, but every once in awhile it guilt trips me into liking it.
Bikers and the pretty Haarlemmerpoort building, reflected in a puddle.
Those bikers were the lucky survivors of yesterday's iced over streets, I've never seen so many people fall with their bikes, including myself...for some obscure reason city hall had decided not to send out those big cars that put sand or salt on the roads to prevent ugly scene like the ones I saw, I guess they're too busy outlawing weed and magic mushrooms and all that!
When I tried to bike up a little bridge, my bike made a 180 degrees turn on the slippery road, out of it's own initiative, almost hitting this lady off her bike in the process, and suddenly I was facing the downwards side of the bridge again that I just had come from, so I decided it's probably best to get off and walk a few meters, out of the danger zone.
While doing so, I kept warning others approaching on bikes that they need to slow down, but we Amsterdam people are fools and only trust ourselves and maybe our Mum's, so they didn't take my word for it and bikers were flying through the scenery left and right from me!
Let's see how the streets are today :))
Have a nice, safe day, stay in if you can, it's almost weekend anyway!
Biker and building, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam.
Don't ask me how the title relates to the actual picture, I'm just a vessel and follow orders from those voices in my head...they sound like they know what they want, and that's a good thing in these uncertain times ;-D
Unedited puddle reflection of bikers and buildings in Amsterdam.
Dedicated to Gianni (NSFW!), for faving almost every single one of my wicked reflection shots ;-))
As always, just a puddle and my mobile duking it out, no Photoshop, no tricks (besides the little artistic people that SonyEricsson obviously builds into their mobile phones)!
Have a good Monday, take it easy, don't work too much and try to talk to as many nice people as possible :))
Mum&Kid passing the Amstel hotel in Amsterdam, enjoying the ride and themselves :)
Mum is proudly displaying the Dutch colors for the Euro 2008!
With the help of this shot I'll show you how to do some wicked reflectin' the easy way, check the notes for instructions ;-)
This is a puddle reflection of the Spuiplein in Amsterd@m, there are some wicked cool book stores on that square, so if you, like me, heart books, you should go there and get something good to read, your brain will thank you :))
What's your favorite book and what are you reading at the moment?
Thank you all for the 42 000 views, much appreciated :))
Photo of the day February 24, 2021 - As I was leaving work to head home and spend the evening with my wife, it was dusk. I thought I'd try to get a picture of the trees, in the dim light.
Doncaster High School For Girls (Hall Cross Comprehensive)
classroom upstairs, with leaky roof,
Taken with Olympus XA on Fuji 200 film
opening in 1911 the school first operated under the name Doncaster High School For Girls - with capacity for 300 pupils. Later it became Doncaster Girls Grammar Scool, before being becoming part of Hall Cross Comprehensive School. it finally stopped being a school circa 1996 when hall cross rationalised their buildings to 2 sites. It was then taken over by Doncaster College, they used it for teaching part of their construction course amongst other things, but only part of the building was used. when the new Doncaster college opened the building was finally closed permanantly and left to become derelict this happeed about 2006/2007.
Unedited puddle reflection of a couple doing their weekend groceries in Amsterdam.
I've only resized this shot, otherwise it's completely unedited, pure, natural puddle play :))
Why am I calling them cheapskates you're asking?! Because the dude so proudly displays his 'Aldi' food discounter bag ;-)
Personally I don't like food from those supercheap food shops, their products often taste as if they should go in the dog's/cat's food bowl, not the people's food bowl. But I guess a lasting worldwide recession can make that stuff tastier and in a few months you'll probably see me outside the 'Aldi' a lot, together with all the other victims of that latest financial fashion called bankruptcy!
P.s. Happy Women's Day :)
Puddle reflection of buildings, a biker and a lady, seemingly chasing the biker, in Amsterdam. A bit blurry due to strong winds, but I liked the scene too much not to post it!
As usual, no Photoshop, no tricks, just a wicked puddle reflection shot with a mobile, some saturation&contrast added.
Here in the best city in the world we have this running gag, sometimes we just yell out 'Hey, that's my bike!!!" and on occasion, you'll see somebody drop his bike and run quickly in the other direction, mhuahahaha ;-D
The reason behind this is that a fair percentage of the locals ride around on stolen bikes that they've purchased in the streets from a Junkie. If you support this system and finance their Heroin-addiction by buying the (obviously) stolen bikes from them, it's just a question of time until Karma comes biting you in your ass and it'll be your bike that disappears...you do get to yell "Hey, that's my bike" though, hehehe ;-P
Thank God it's Friday, yay :D
