en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_O-2_Skymaster
The Cessna O-2 Skymaster (nicknamed "Oscar Deuce") is a military version of the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster, used for forward air control (FAC) and psychological operations (PSYOPS) by the US military between 1967 and 2010.
In 1966 the United States Air Force (USAF) commissioned Cessna to build a military variant of the Skymaster to replace the O-1 Bird Dog.
As with the civilian version, the Skymaster was a low-cost twin-engine piston-powered aircraft, with one engine in the nose of the aircraft and a second engine in the rear of the fuselage. The push-pull configuration meant a simpler single-engine operating procedure due to centerline thrust compared to the common low-wing mounting of most twin engine light planes, and also allowed for a high wing, providing clear observation below and behind the aircraft.
Modifications made for the military configuration included installation of single seating fore and aft (i.e. two tandem seats available for pilot and observer, vs. 6 seats available in the civilian version); installation of view panels in the doors (for improved ground observation); installation of flame-retardant foam in the wing-mounted fuel tanks (slight increase in empty vehicle weight; 3% reduction in available fuel capacity); installation of military communication and navigation equipment in lieu of available civilian equipment and antennas; deletion of propeller spinners; increased gross weight (5,400 lb vs. 4,400 lb in civilian version), with component strengthening as required to support the increase; and deletion of interior upholstery.
The first O-2 flew in January 1967 and the plane went into production shortly thereafter. Performance (especially at cruising altitudes) was degraded due to the added antennas and significant weight increase, but was considered sufficient for the anticipated low-level operation.
The USAF took delivery of the O-2 Skymaster in March 1967 and the O-2A also entered the U.S. Army's inventory during 1967, from USAF stock. By 1970, a total of 532 O-2s had been built, in two variants, for the USAF.
During the Vietnam War, the O-2A was introduced as a replacement for the O-1 Bird Dog, in the forward air control (FAC) aircraft and served in that role with the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron. The O-2B was equipped with loudspeakers and a leaflet dispenser for use in the psychological operations (PSYOPS) role.
While it was intended that the Skymaster be replaced in the FAC mission by the OV-10 Bronco, the O-2A continued to be used for night missions after the OV-10's introduction, due to the OV-10's high level of cockpit illumination, rendering night reconnaissance impractical. The O-2 was phased out completely after additional night upgrades to the OV-10.
A total of 178 USAF O-2 Skymasters were lost in the Vietnam War, to all causes.
Following the Vietnam War, the O-2 continued to operate with both U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard units into the late 1980s.

“100,000 Ukrainian soldiers are dead”, Ursula accidently reveals the ‘imprudence’ of Ukrainian military
Would you believe me if I claim that about 50% of the Ukrainian Army has been rendered decapacitated by the invading Russian forces? If not, you better believe European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen’s own words!
On Wednesday, for the first time, a top official of the European Union accepted the losses and causalities the Ukrainian military has suffered.
Ursula accidentally exposes Ukrainian military
Until now, Ukrainian forces have been portrayed as “sort of immortals, ” who keep killing Russians and move ahead on the battlefield. However, the myth has been busted time and again. Western media and forces have painted the Russian army as unable to stand in front of the Ukrainian army. However, the truth is totally different.
This time, the truth about Ukrainian forces has been exposed by European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen herself.
She stated in a speech that in nine months of the war, “More than 100,000 Ukrainian military officers have been killed so far,” adding that some 20,000 civilians had also perished. This was not all. After the number was revealed in the media, all efforts were made to remove the figure from the public eye.
The part of her speech where she mentioned the death toll in Kyiv quickly vanished from the text on the website of the European Commission. Additionally, it was removed from a video of the address that was posted on the website and from von der Leyen’s Twitter page.
Some media outlets and social media users who examined the two versions of the videos spotted the altering.
Ukraine psyops
Previously, in mid-April, Zelensky had said that the number of dead Ukrainian soldiers was 2500, while around 30,000 Russian soldiers were gunned down. Now, it turns out that it was a part of Ukraine’s psychological warfare against Russia
Serhi Lapko, a Ukrainian military commander, fighting on the frontline, was recently quoted by Washington Post as saying, “Kyiv was deliberately not acknowledging the death of Ukrainian soldiers at the frontline, to protect morale among troops and the general public.” He further told, “On Ukrainian TV we see that there are no losses. There’s no truth.”
Frankly speaking, Ukraine’s loss in the war was inevitable; and also a foregone conclusion. One must realize what Ukraine was actually fighting against! The ill-equipped, poorly trained Ukrainian soldiers were mercilessly deployed against the world’s second-most powerful military without proper assessment and deliberations!
Ursula’s statement is an admission that Ukrainian forces are failing against Russia’s military power. It threatens the propaganda the bloc and countries have spilt to the European public till now to justify their financial and military support to Ukraine.
All the lives could have been saved, had NATO not pushed Ukraine into war. The country of Ukraine could have been saved if its neutrality was maintained and respected. The figures are still being hidden from the public because the bloc and Ukraine’s regime doesn’t care about the lives of soldiers fighting on the frontline. What matters to them is how they fuel the war against Russia.
Further, Ukraine is just a battleground and the real war is going on between US and Russia. And, we all know that, both won’t stop till a result is reached. At this point in time, Ukraine and the European bloc should be reminded of writer H.G. Wells’s historical lines, “If we don’t end war, war will end us.”

Von der Leyen statement about death of 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers cut from speech
Part of her speech was posted on Twitter on the morning of Nov. 30, in which she stated, in particular, that Ukraine’s losses in the war with Russia amounted to 100,000 soldiers and 20,000 civilians.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine brought death, destruction and untold suffering. We all remember the horrors of Bucha. It is estimated that more than 20,000 civilians and 100,000 Ukrainian military personnel have died to date. Russia must pay for its heinous crimes, including the crime of aggression against a sovereign state,” the tweet read.
The speech was also published on the website of the European Commission.
However, within a few hours, the tweet was deleted and a new one was published – with a video address, from which the claim about the deaths of 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers and 20,000 civilians had been removed.
That part of the text also disappeared from the speech on the EC’s official website.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Nov. 11 stated that Russia’s losses in the war were ten times greater than Ukraine’s.
The head of state added that the artillery transferred to Ukraine by the US helped break the Russian military initiative. He also said the aggressor state’s losses in heavy equipment and manpower were “staggering.”
According to the Ukrainian military’s General Staff, as of Nov. 30, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost about 88,880 troops.
President Zelenskyy predicts that by the end of the year, the number of Russians killed in Ukraine will reach 100,000.

The Skymaster with its high wing was well suited for observation and forward air control (FAC) roles in Vietnam. Day or night, O-2s located enemy targets, called in artillery or attack aircraft, and located downed pilots behind enemy lines—as was depicted in the movie Bat 21. This aircraft has a unique push-pull configuration of engines in front and behind the cockpit, so it was easier to handle than a regular twin when an engine failed or had to be shut down.
The O-2 is the military version of the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster. The Air Force commissioned it to replace the O-1 Bird Dog, which was originally called the L-19 and was re-designated O-1 (for Observation) in 1962. The Bird Dog was a single engine all-metal aircraft developed after WWII to be sturdier than fabric covered planes.
The “Bird Dog” found the enemy and called in an attack, like a bird dog does with hunters. The O-2 also excelled in this role. Flying low and close to the battlefield, the pilot observed exploding shells and adjusted artillery fire via radio. In fact, there are many radios in the O-2 to communicate with many people on the ground, in the air, and at base camp. The seats are armored to protect the crew.
The O-2B was equipped with loudspeakers and a leaflet dispenser for psychological operations (PSYOPS). These aircraft played a vital supporting role on the battlefield.
