Many of the Metro stations in Naples are dubbed 'Art Stations'. Different artists use the space to create something unique and quite wonderful and each is well worth visiting in their own right.
This one, Università Metro, is one of the newer stations and was designed by Karim Rashid. This light wall in the atrium of the station is called 'Ikon' (2010) and the dominant steel sculpture is 'Synapsi' (2010).
The walls of the station are all either funky vibrant colours or psychedlic holograms that move as you stroll past them.
One station (Museo) has been turned into a photography gallery with all manor of black and white prints adorning the tunnels and stairs. Another (Toledo) is 50m below sea-level and have a porthole that streams light in from the surface.
Anish Kapoor has designed one of the stations but this was still being built when we were there - gutted!!
I'm probably not doing it justice so I'll stop waffling...

This gradient image of yellow to green over a tunnel of concentrating circles is another example of excellent artwork that didn't make the final cut in a marketing campaign for binary options affiliate sites. The spinning effect you may feel while viewing this art is the result of the brain trying to compute the circles and also the straight line aspects of the shifting gradient.
My wife and I went to see the Psychedlic Furs perform at an outdoor concert at Finkl Steel's Lincoln Park factory complex but left before they came on after losing patience at the band's delay on taking the stage. It was getting late and we had a long drive back home.
These photos were taken at dusk so the details are not great but they show the Finkl complex from the inside. Finkl tried to be a good neighbor including hosting this event with Goose Island beer on their property.
Finkl relocated to the South Side and its former Lincoln Park site is part of the Lincoln Yards development with all of its former buildings including the ones in these photos demolished.
One of those lamps with plastic sheets arranged artily around a bulb. This one had wonderfully geometric shapes.
