Psychedelic road
Bien souvent la perception de ce que nous voyons est influencée par notre manière de penser et nos valeurs. Une simple route peut parfois nous emmener voyager ailleurs qu’à ce que nous pensions au départ.
Very often the perception of what we see is influenced by our way of thinking and our values. A simple road can sometimes take us to travel elsewhere than what we thought at the start.
Durant quelques jours je vais vous faire découvrir des choses simples que nous ne voyons plus sous un autre angle.
For a few days I will make you discover simple things that we no longer see from another angle.

One of the VW Busses that I saw at the VW car show on Saturday. He was all hooked up to the trailer and ready to pull out. The vehicle had been painted with grey primer and he said his kids started writing on it with sidewalk chalk so he just lets everyone do it now.

……Squared Circle for Macro Mondays theme shot! A button from the button tin - looks like a 60’s relic to me? It is a clear button with black swirls within taken on a neutral background. I liked the four thread holes arranged in a square to replicate the outer square. Have a great week & HMM, Alan:-)

Something a little different. Phish is on tour! I'll post a couple photos tonight for tomorrow, but I will be off. I tend to take connection free Sundays and only turn my computer on for music. No online, no cell phone. Disconnect once a week--it is good for you.
A slightly different version of this photo serves as my profile pic for nearly everything except Flickr. It also serves as my wallpaper for my phone and PC. Kind of like an identity. :-)
Thanks for Viewing.
This crazy picture is dedicated to the famous band Pink Floyd and their song »Shine On You Crazy Diamond« that was some hommage to co-founder Syd Barrett within the album »Wish you were here«. Syd Barrett was the person which created the name Pink Floyd.
To achieve this rather psychedlic view with the red light at the foreground I used the light pollution of the snow groomers that are very active when the night begins. Though there were only 2 which were rather far away the red light can well be seen illuminating the whole foreground.
The mountain landscape above has some crazy light too but this light was just natural.

Adventures in bubble play has me wanting to experiment more. Now that our cold weather is settling in it's time to stay in and play. I used a light panel but want to try using a flash and experiment some more. Any tips on how to get sharper results? I used my macro lens and a 36mm extension tube. Maybe I am too close?

Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk” is the fifth track on Pink Floyd’s debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
This track features strange, attention-grabbing, morbid lyrics unlike anything else on the album. This alongside the introduction makes for one of Pink Floyd’s most insane tracks in their entire discography.

OK. Now, if you know my titular cultural reference to Tom Wolfe's book, let me assure you I was perfectly sober when I took and processed these photos. In fact, I was being a dutiful Dad taking our youngest to an indoor baseball practice when I spied this delightful "hippie" VW bus in the parking lot, complete with Grateful Dead bumper stickers, peace sign decal, and psychedelic curtains. Thankfully, I had my cell phone to grab some shots.
I should add that I was just a tad young for the swingin' 60s, too young to participate but just the right age to be heavily influenced by the pop culture explosion. I was just nine during the Summer of Love and 11 for Woodstock.
Below you'll see the original montage, the first go with a layer of clouds merged into it, and then a number of other color variations as I messed with the hue control.
These are all real roses that I have grown in my own gardens; photographed; then applied what my photography instructor has coined "the Russell Technique."

AM Radio standing quietly as the swirls of color and movement from the dance party Saturday night swirl all around him.
Week 28 in 52 Weeks for Dogs and this morning I had no idea what to do for Taivas' project. Dull and raining outside and gloomy in. A piece of silver holographic paper, the lensbaby and speedlight came to the rescue. The colours made by the flash on the paper came out well in some areas but were wishy washy in others so I took a separate shot, cropped the most colourful area and layered it over the image of Taivas and used linear burn blend mode. I added a mask and took some of the colour off Taivas. Then I added a filter in Analogue Efex which brightened the image.

The phrase Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out is credited to Dr. Timothy Leary, research psychologist and guru of LSD, who said it at a Human Be-In in the Summer of Love, 1967, in San Francisco.
The equally iconic statement "If you remember the 60s, then you really weren't there" was credited to US comedian Charlie Fleischer in 1982.
We're Here looks at Initials, Abbreviations and Monograms today and I chose the abbreviation LSD, which stands for lysergic acid diethylamide, colloquially known as 'acid'. It seemed like a fun topic.
Now I think I'll groove to White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane, man. Dig it.
This is what happens when you put cooking oil on top of water in a clear glass dish that is suspended over something colorful. I learned this technique from a Brian Peterson Video at the University of Youtube. Here's that link www.youtube.com/user/ppsop2009#p/u/8/SCYG7HO_SZo

Old Schools, University of Cambridge. 800th Anniversary light show. Real photo: tried longish exposure here to allow blending of diffrent projections on the building. Worked quite well, I thought:-)
Best with Cambridge's psychedelic export: Pink Floyd and their "Interstellar Overdrive" track (one of my favourite from this band): uk.youtube.com/watch?v=emlJKhLZOh8 .
Been super busy at work, miss you all...
