This is the very first rose in my set, "Psychedelic Roses," the first of my roses to which I applied this technique.
These are all real roses that I have grown in my own gardens; photographed; then applied what my photography instructor has coined "the Russell Technique."

This psychedelic scene came from the black-lit, indoor mini-golf course in the University Place Mall in Orem. Joshua and Kellie are finishing up their round with their final shots.

I wish my timing was better, getting to the crossing as the train goes by. I am still fascinated by the scope of decoration that finds a train car a viable canvas.

One more submission for the good panda contest. This one is made from macro shots of a resin pour I did with alcohol inks and random things. I posted those photos a little while ago, not too far back from this post.
The Paint Mines near Colorado Springs CO. A very odd collection of hoodoos and "painted" clay, with various wild and clashing colors emerging. It was a surprisingly interesting and unique formation. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calhan_Paint_Mines_Archeological_Di... for more info about how it was formed.
I was taking a long exposure shot with the most colorful hoodoos in the post-sunset fade to blue hour and my teenage daughter walked in to the frame and stood on a distant hoodoo. I had her stand still for the remainder of the exposure so there is a non-distinct form on the horizon in the distance which I thought added an interesting touch to the picture. The title is just what popped in to my head thinking about the bizarre colors, it all looks rather psychedelic.
Explored on 8/29/2015 reaching #25. Many many thanks to all who visited, faved and commented. And yes, this is real. The colors are warmer due to the ND filter I used for a long exposure, though they are not that much different than what one would see with the naked eye. After seeing this had been cross posted to Reddit in full size, I noticed there is a lot of color fringing around the edge of the hoodoo on the left. I'll have to fix that one of these days but at the moment, enjoy with CA problems and all :-)

Tom and I hiked south along the Appalachian Trail next to the Housatonic River after voting. We saw a very mature (and large) American bald eagle less than 50' away on a sycamore tree branch. It was exciting and while it would have been fun to attempt to photograph it, we just stood there in awe, admiring this incredible animal.
We're in a drought here the northeast and the Housatonic River is moving very slowly. The slowness of the river is allowing foam to gather along the banks in interesting ways as it interacts with branches and rocks. I spent a good amount of time photographing this particular foam pattern; it was changing right before my eyes and how it interacted with the rock at the top of the frame was fascinating.
I would have posted this yesterday but I've been extremely shocked, embarrassed, and ultimately depressed about the US. election. I'm very sorry for what my country has done.
