I've always wanted to do a Polaroid image transfer, so when the August 2008 ShutterBug magazine had an article by Philip Andrews explaining the process, I decided to give it a try.

Taken using the following raw image, saving 4 copies of it using different exposure levels, then combining them back into HDR.

Negatives has a more wider range that monitors can offer and this can be extracted as follow :

1.Take a negative with high contrast, my example is a sunset.

2.Scan this negative, with 3 different exposition : overexposed, normal, underexposed

3.Use software to generate an HDR image with the three exposed/scanned ones.

4.Tonemap as best view.

5.Congratulations, you made a HDR out of your negatives.

Had to dig out my LLB today--I haven't used it since last summer--perhaps I should take it with me for next semester.

Anyway, this is my attempt at a healthful, vegetarian "Lunchable," although I don't think I've ever had a real Lunchable...

Oh how I love photoshop! When I'm not knitting or spinning, I can be found manipulating pictures in pseudo tiltshift style!

Pseudo-nitzschia is a single-cell organism belonging to a group of algae called diatoms. Diatoms are unique among phytoplankton in having a glasslike exterior made of silica. Pseudo-nitzschia is a chain-forming diatom that uses mucilage, a gluey substance, to attach one cell to the next. Large concentrations of Pseudo-nitzschia cells, called blooms, can discolor the water yellow to brown. Pseudo-nitzschia blooms can be found year-round in Florida waters. Many species of Pseudo-nitzschia produce a neurotoxin called domoic acid. The environmental conditions that influence domoic acid production are currently being studied.

This photo is not the result of a Lensbaby or PhotoShop. It is the result of a terrible lens and cross-processing the film. The lens itself is an old off-brand WA from the 1970s and it may have a loose or otherwise faulty element. However I find myself in love with its "Petzval-like" quality.

The other thing about this photo is that it is cross-processed; C-41 Kodak BW400CN souped eight minutes in standard B&W chemistry. In this case, Ilford Ilfotec HC.

I don't think this guy is technically a muffler man, but he does look like he was made by the same outfit. He stands in front of the Plantation Inn in Chicopee, greeting you as come through the toll booth of Exit 6 on the Massachusetts turnpike.

Before that, I understand he was painted like Uncle Sam (I would love to have seen that) and stood in front of a car dealership in Springfield.

I would have gotten a better perspective, but there's a fence right in front of him. Next time I'm in the area I may walk the long way around the fence from the end of the huge parking lot.
