"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and
health to the bones."
"The fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring for ever: the judgments
of the LORD are true and
righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than
gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the
honeycomb." - Psalms 19:9-10
"He's fairer than lilies of rarest
bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from
out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit
needs.
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him

Goal: To brand the new proverbs sermon series.
Audience: Small suburban Chicago congregation. Variety of ages but skewed toward younger. A bit more traditional style church.
Direction: From the pastor:
"I want the graphics to communicate a feeling of sophistication and intelligence. Think of a feel that would be appropriate for the intelligentsia of our day. Something that speaks to those who enjoy intellectual exercises and consider themselves to be smart. Main idea of the series is that true wisdom is found in God's Word, especially Proverbs, not in self-help books like at Barnes and Noble. True wisdom is knowing Christ as Savior."
Three different directions.
- The lighthouse is a metaphor for Proverbs' guidance and showing wise and unwise paths.
- The flowchart is more of a academic take on intelligence. Proverbs provides a guide somewhat like the flowchart, giving many comparisons between the wise person and the fool.
- The chess pieces point to the types of activities done by some intelectual elite. A wise move can make or break the game.
Project: Sermon series
Other important info: I am going to present these directions with revisions to the pastor today. I am mainly looking for some quick feedback on the concepts. These are concept sketches for approval, not refined, so let me know if these concepts are communicating the theme effectively.
