Artifact Puzzles

317 pieces, used and complete (one piece damaged but complete)
11x15.5in
2023 piece count: 24,136
puzzle no: 36
My first genuine Artifact puzzle, courtesy of eBay. A grid cut so although it's described on their website as 'harder than average' it was extremely easy to complete. I got it at a bargain price due to its having a damaged piece but it didn't detract from the overall image. I coloured it before packing it away but it's still visible.
Two enclosed leaflets explain all the proverbs in English and German.
Would I buy more? Probably not, unless I can acquire one with a more imaginative cut, although I was pleased with the build quality and presentation of this one.

because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. -
Proverbs 3:12 (NIV)
Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary
3:7-12 There is not a greater enemy to the fear of the Lord in the heart, than self-conceit of our own wisdom. The prudence and sobriety which religion teaches, tend not only to the health of the soul, but to the health of the body. Worldly wealth is but poor substance, yet, such as it is, we must honour God with it; and those that do good with what they have, shall have more to do more good with. Should the Lord visit us with trials and sickness, let us not forget that the exhortation speaks to us as to children, for our good. We must not faint under an affliction, be it ever so heavy and long, not be driven to despair, or use wrong means for relief. The father corrects the son whom he loves, because he loves him, and desires that he may be wise and good. Afflictions are so far from doing God's children any hurt, that, by the grace of God, they promote their holiness.
My son runs track for Cookeville High School and this is four photos that I took of him at two separate track meets. One of the pics is him in the 100 yard dash and the other three are from the 4x200 race.
I am very proud of my son and hope that he always remembers the verse that I've included on this collage...Proverbs 18:10 tells us that "the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous man runs into it and is safe."
The original RAW files taken with my Nikon D5000 were processed with Adobe Camera Raw and final adjustments were made with Photoshop where all photos were combined into the images seen above.

Proverbs 7:1-27 (NLT)
Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands.
Obey them and live! Guard my teachings as your most precious possession.
Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.
Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family.
Let them hold you back from an affair with an immoral woman,
from listening to the flattery of an adulterous woman.
I was looking out the window of my house one day
and saw a simpleminded young man who lacked common sense.
He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman.
He was strolling down the path by her house at twilight,
as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in.
The woman approached him, dressed seductively and sly of heart.
She was the brash, rebellious type who never stays at home.
She is often seen in the streets and markets, soliciting at every corner.
She threw her arms around him and kissed him, and with a brazen look she said,
"I've offered my sacrifices and just finished my vows.
It's you I was looking for! I came out to find you, and here you are!
My bed is spread with coloured sheets of finest linen imported from Egypt.
I've perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Come, let's drink our fill of love until morning.
Let's enjoy each other's caresses, for my husband is not home.
He's away on a long trip. He has taken a wallet full of money with him,
and he won't return until later in the month."
So she seduced him with her pretty speech.
With her flattery she enticed him.
He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter or like a trapped stag,
awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart.
He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.
Listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words.
Don't let your hearts stray away toward her.
Don't wander down her wayward path.
For she has been the ruin of many;
numerous men have been her victims.
Her house is the road to the grave.
Her bedroom is the den of death.
DRAWING NOTES:
TIME OF DAY:
Verse 9 of this chapter sets the scene at twilight.
LIGHTING NOTES:
Unspecific - candle or torch light from above & the sides of the scene.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
A simpleminded young man who lacked common sense & an immoral woman, or adulteress.
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
I have arranged the bed linen & drapes in shapes that beckon & entice the foolish young man towards the woman. Notice that he is dropping the red roses he has brought as a present for her.
Notice also that the woman has Delphinium (Violet Larkspur) on her pillow. All parts of the plant contain the alkaloid delphinidin which is highly toxic. If ingested in large quantities this toxin causes death. The flowers look pretty & attractive on the outside, but are poisonous & deadly on the inside. That is a flower metaphor for the adulterous woman, who’s attentions bring potential death to the young man.
Proverbs 10:4
"A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich."
I was contemplating putting this in black and white but decided that it would be a travesty to lose the lovely warm tones that the sun had caused.
Proverbs 6:12
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. (KJV)

This puzzle is a lot different than the 3000 Ravensburger and the 1500 Jumbo versions.
Puzzle Nathan has produced 2 different 4000 pc versions, and one of them looks similar to this one, although the colours are somewhat different.
