We didn't know we would be going to the exhibit that day so all we had were cell phone cameras.

I'm posting these as a costumer and prop maker, so you'll see a lot of close ups of seams and other details. Hopefully they will serve as a good reference for others.

It took all day, but I am thrilled with how my proton pack came out. I repainted the entire thing a darker black. A mixture of flat black spray paint and chalkboard spray paint. I made my own labels to add a bit more to the pack. And luckily I did, because one of the decals ripped off when I took the masking tape off. I added fake lights and detail logos etc onto the wand and pack. I weathered the entire thing with silver paint to give it the appearance of the black paint wearing away. I put the iconic red wire on the top of the wand, using a red USB cable and some hot glue. I painted many little bits and fake screws that were just black, with a silver paint. And lastly I dirtied up the decals and some of the wire connectors. Man, that was an ordeal, but I had fun and am super happy with the results. #ghostbusters #ghosttrap #therealghostbusters #halloween #horror #beforeandafter #nerd #singleweirdomanchild #collector #toycollector

The rail was missing from the wand's bottom last year.

I had a piece of 1-inch wood routed out and mounted it to the wand's underside. I had to remove the mount from last year's build and then remount it to the new rail.

I purposely used the bright sheet metal screws, because it added some contrast to the thing.

This made mounting the wand while wearing the pack MUCH easier.

My wife Liz and I got the call from the Medieval Times at Discover Mills Mall on October 30, 2009. A class 5 free roaming vapor was spotted by the King. We found and captured the ghost fairly quickly, without incident, but they had a great chandelier and we couldn't leave without destroying it.

I remember the first time I saw this guy and saaid why is there a man over there with a proton pack! Then I realized it was some backpack vacuum thing. Everytime I see him cleaning the apartment across the way I say I am going to take a pic. I did before but they didn't come out as good as these and he caught me doing it.

A really fast build to get ready for a last-minute costume party invite.
