Ok this Corner in my Opinion is the most Valued Corner in Columbia. with the 15 Story Edge Apartment Tower slated to begin construction in 2019 its only natural for for that corner to start gaining growing to Fuse the Downtown/Main Street District and the Vista.
With the Edge opening up next to the Library I imagine that huge Parking crater across the street will be developed into something amazing. my Idea is radical but not far fetched. a Mall Similar to the Epicentre in Charlotte. Downtown Columbia is Lacking a Main Mall that attracts even more types of business in downtown. Main Streets retail and development space is gonna be running out in the coming future and something needs to be done to add more space. Retail,Hotel,Office and Living.
I believe the 1400 Block of Main Street is the Prime location for this. Also with the proposed Apartments ontop of the Garage it will only serve to spur on such development
The Corner of Lady and Park Street is also another location thats primed for development. I imagine this area also to have a mixed use development with Retail on ground level and Apartments or Condos ontop
