'The Poposal'
Late afternoon today.
Lavender Bay, Sydney.
Saturday, 15th April, 2023.
During my usual Saturday trek around the harbour today I discovered, by chance, this elaborate setting near the wharf at Lavender Bay. It was a marriage proposal complete with roses, candles, a 'Marry Me' sign, and a photographer (or two, lol), not to mention a bridge and a skyline.
Now why did I not think to do this some years ago?
My Canon EOS 5D Mk IV with the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L lens.

Here you can see her displaying (on the left) while he taps the ground (road) with his beak, which she also responded in kind to moments later.
They were last sighted flying 'wing in wing' to our Lilly Pilly tree. Hopefully I will get to see the chicks in due course.

Early one winter's morning - part of a sequence which the early start certainly made worthwhile.
For me, Avebury comes alive in the winter... a much quieter place than during the summer months - tourist coaches are rarely seen, and a visit during the week can often find the stones standing undisturbed for most of the day.
Avebury will mean different things to different people... for me it's a special place where my partner and I can recharge ourselves - more accurately my wife post my proposal at nearby Dragon Hill (well, fairly nearby) and wedding on March 3rd 2008.
We're planning our handfasting for next year as a compliment to our civil ceremony this year and Avebury would be our place.

This is a genuine marriage proposal, I was wandering around Welwyn Garden City and wanted to photograph the light tunnel. On arrival a young couple was there so I asked if they would mind being in my shot. Much to my astonishment the scene I was recording was a marriage proposal which was accepted. We then exchanged details and I sent them a picture. Later in the day I asked them for permission to upload this picture. Such a wonderful moment and a delight to witness.
This is on top of the Grand Teton in Wyoming. It was an amazing alpine climb that we started from the moraine below the Lower Saddle at 3am. This is not staged as I caught my girlfriend (fiance) totally off guard! I set up the camera on a tripod for a shot which is nothing out of the ordinary. After taking a picture I asked her to stand up while I got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of my jacket pocket. She started crying and happily accepted. Luckily I had the wits about me to reach into my pocket and engage the shutter release remote to capture this moment! I got some amazing pictures on this trip to the Tetons but this is certainly my favorite! Hope you all enjoy!

I was finally able to roll out early enough to catch a sunrise on the beach this morning.
I saw this couple walking hand in hand along the waters edge, and then the guy dropped down on his knee.
I can't be sure that he was actually proposing......maybe he was just taking a nice picture of his girlfriend on the beach at sunrise with his cellphone, I really couldn't see exactly what was going on, but being the hopeless romantic I am, I'd like to imagine he was whipping out a little blue box from TIffany's (hey....if your gonna dream....dream BIG!), and asking her to spend the rest of her life with him......and of course she said yes! 8-)

The light was unbelievable on this day. The sunset was out of this world. And to top if all off, Kenji got down on his knee and surprised Natalie by proposing to her.

We'd gone out for dinner after a grey day that saw most of the accumulated snow disappear - and were promptly chased indoors by a fast approaching thunderstorm. That's a bit unusual for this time of year but the meal was good and we stayed dry while the rain came down in earnest. There was even a severe thunderstorm warning issued by Environment Canada. As we left for home, my wife was sure she heard the fellow in this gazebo proposing to his girlfriend. We had just enough time to grab a shot and get back to the car, when the rain came again.
