Prompt used - abstract expressionist portrait paper magazine _1

about a month ago there was a fun day called "pARTy on the drive". A main drive was closed down and used to showcase local artists. I was particularly drawn to this woman who was creating her own glass beads. It was mezmerizing to see how she took a rod of glass and created different sizes and shapes of beads. She was even making beads in shapes that audience members asked her to do. This one ended up being a little fish. Of course, I bought one of her larger pieces -- a gorgeous pendant.

Prompt #18 from Janel of "Run with Scissors" Journal prompts

Journal Prompt 18: Music is one of my most favorite things ever!! It translates emotions that I can't even imagine putting into words. I love it. Today I want you to create a playlist of some kind. It can be your summer playlist, your July playlist, songs from your wedding day, or favorite songs of all time :) This one will be another fun one to look at down the road :)

This is some of my favorite songs on my summer playlist. :)

The prompt for yesterday was "Something I Wore." I wore a green sweater and the moon earrings that I got for Christmas. (The earrings are from Pineapple Seed.) I also got a haircut yesterday! Since it's been about two years since I've done a self portrait, I figured it was time for another.

Heritage Days 19 September 2021 - KANAL-Centre Pompidou

After the crisis triggered by the 1929 Wall Street Crash, there was a marked revival in the popularity of cars, prompting the major carmakers to move en masse to the centre of Brussels. Thus, Citroen decided to relocate from Saint-Gilles/Sint-Gillis to a much busier site in 1934. For its chosen location in Place de l'Yser/IJzerplein, it opted for an imposing design in a functionalist style, produced by architects Alexis Dumont and Marcel Van Goethem, based on plans drawn up by Andre Citroen. Featuring an aerodynamic roof, the metal-framed modernist building has a surface area of around 40,000 m2, which is bathed in light thanks to its huge glazed facades. Five extra levels subdividing the showroom were added in 1959. Originally, the complex was home to the administrative staff, a large showroom, repair shops, warehouses for spare parts and a service station (on the Quai de Willebroeck/Willebroekkaai side).

The gem that is the Citroen garage was bought in 2015 by the Brussels-Capital Region, which tasked its Urban Development Corporation (SAU-MSI) with developing an international cultural hub. The Kanal Foundation was responsible for implementing the project, in cooperation with the International Centre for the City, Architecture and Landscape (CIVA) and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The complex, which opened in 2018, is now undergoing a complete makeover, due for completion in 2024. KANAL envisages becoming a major multidisciplinary cultural institution and a centre of exchange open to all, featuring not only a museum of modern and contemporary art and an architecture museum (hence CIVA's involvement), exhibitions and restaurants, but also many multifunctional public spaces - in short, a vibrant place to meet and interact, at the heart of a neighbourhood on the move!

Prompt: The number 1. A true original, one-of-a-kind!

outdoor rock fireplace -- top one is using line work to define texture and shapes; bottom is less line work and uses color to inform textures. Even though i think the top one looks more defined and crisp, I enjoy the feeling of looseness and implying the textures more than trying to really be specific about them. Im learning who I am as an artist :-)

What is the prompt [holds you back?]

Things I wrote down: gel medium, 7 gypsies, more Jenni Bowlin, Paintsticks, Silver Bella and other Artsy Travels, more on-line classes, designer Fabrics, lots more threads, different kinds of glue, sealants, healthy supply of gessos and decoupages. I Zentangled the dollar and cent stencils(I did not fill them in with pencil) and added the peace stamp because it looks Zentangle-y and also because of the word peace(I like how in some places it is crisp and in others it is blurry-I'm not always happy with taking that 5th or 6th spot in my hubby's budget plan). The bigger journaling spots are from a plant tag and the smaller one is traced from a chipboard frame after pieces are punched out. I traced them onto the back of a pink legal size paper that was tea bag stained and than glued to smooth corrugated cardboard. There's even an old list of stuff over on the left from 2004 or 2005.

Words on the other tag are: Holds me back? I tend to not want to use my stuff. What I do~ make lists of stuff I want and mark it off as I go along, use my stuff anyway, being thankful for what I do have, pray.

My front door -- This lesson is very helpful to me - I am constantly plagued by wonky, misshapen structures when I draw. I find measured setup helps a lot in getting the core lines established and its easy to build upon from there. Thanks Liz!

A kind of scrapbooky page in honor of my brother.
