Ruben’s House in Anwerp
Peter Paul Rubens, the famous painter of 16th-17th century, was …Belgian!! A Flemish Belgian, belonging to the Belgian Baroque tradition in painting! His unique and immensely popular Baroque style emphasized movement, colour, and sensuality, which followed the immediate, dramatic artistic style promoted in the Counter-Reformation. In his times he was a Dutch from the Southern Netherlands, living in Antwerp ! Rubens was a painter producing altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects. He was also a prolific designer of cartoons for the Flemish tapestry workshops and of front pieces for the publishers in Antwerp.
This talented man, was a great Artist in many fields, apart from his painting talent!! He was also a very educated , charismatic scholar and diplomat, and had a great talent in decoration and architecture, which he proved by cooperating with great decorators and architects of his times, in order to create his beautiful palace home in Antwerp/Anvers of our days!! You can follow and see digitally the beauty of this exquisite old palace house, here:

I visited this lovely museum-house of today, which Flanders is so proud of, with a Flemish friend of mine, this last summer in Antwerp. I share with you here some of the photos I took of the interior of Rubens House, and of its beautiful gardens , too.

"Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. ..The Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.(.)
The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside the old. This act symbolizes a welcoming of life's changes and an acknowledgment that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle."

The Norwegian Natur & Foto Magazine organized for the 7th time the largest, likely most prestigious, Nordic nature and wildlife photography competition.
With its fantastic nature, unique light, magnificent wildlife and plant life, Nordic nature is in a class of its own and the magazine wants to promote that via the Nordic Nature Photo Contest, which is international and open to everyone. All images must be shot in one of the Nordic countries, Norway including Svalbard, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, the Faeroe Islands and/or Greenland.
One of the images I sent was a high key image of an Apollo (Parnassius apollo). In Finland, the beautiful, elusive, though vulnerable Apollo butterfly was one of the first species of insects declared endangered in the country and is thus very hard to find. I have tried to photograph it throughout the last few summers, though not always with success.
However, there is always a chance to get lucky... and I did... back in July 2016. Went to an area in the South of Finland where the Apollo flies in limited numbers. I searched, stayed patient and got 'awarded'. The Apollo visible, in this now awarded image, was either not warmed up properly, or simply lacking energy, as it was extremely calm for some 20 minutes providing me however with enough photographic opportunities. I converted this particular image into a high key B&W using Silver Efex Pro, but kept the 'eyes', though partially hidden as the wings were closed, red.
As you all know, I am on the never ending pursuit of that next ‘cracking shot’ … and long may it still continue. Happy days! For further information on the competition, please visit www.nnpc.no/en/

This 134 m so-called Bhutan bridge is located near Leuk, Switzerland and connects the French-speaking part of the Canton of Wallis/Valais with the German-speaking one. Plus the Bhutanese design of the suspension bridge and the decoration with prayer flags symbolize the bond between the mountain countries Switzerland and Bhutan.
I love the concept of the prayer flags... "Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods, which is a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.
By hanging flags in high places the Lung ta (Wind horse) will carry the blessings depicted on the flags to all beings. As wind passes over the surface of the flags, which are sensitive to the slightest movement of the wind, the air is purified and sanctified by the mantras.
The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside the old." (Wikipedia)

About a year ago I posted a slide scan of a blue 1954 Chevrolet delivery truck, here is a link to that photo - flic.kr/p/2orwX6Y - I had purchased that slide, and the one posted here, from the same seller, and both photos look like they were taken at the same facility (whose location is unknown), just a few months apart, the mount for this one only shows “May 1953”.
This spotless, smart-looking, brand new yellow step-van has hub caps and an emblem just below the windshield that show it to be a Chevrolet. – What I thought to be most interesting was the center of the grille which had a circular chrome or stainless design as well as the name “CAR O VAN” in red letters.
I could not find any evidence that Chevrolet had ever mass-produced a step van model with this name, but I did however find a photo of a GMC truck brochure from about this same era promoting “Three New Wide Universal CAROVANS” - “Bodies mounted on GMC package delivery chassis” offered in three different wheelbases, but the photo on the brochure shows just a standard step-van grille with “GMC” lettering.
So perhaps the truck in this photo was a one-of-a kind prototype for Chevrolet with the CAROVAN model name and trim, whose exact details and ultimate fate have since been lost to the passing of time……….But I sure would love to know where that very cool grille ended up ! - May 1953.

Happy Star Wars Day, May the fourth be with you!
Special logojet promoting 'Star Wars - Galaxy's Edge', the latest movie in the Star Wars franchise, featuring the 'Millennium Falcon'.
Named: "Hot Lips", later "The Falcon" (Sep-19).
Originally ordered by GECAS for lease to Alitalia as EI-CVI, the lease was cancelled and the aircraft was leased to Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VLIP in May-01.
In May-10 it carried large 'Harry Potter' graphics until Jan-11. In Sep-19 the aircraft was renamed 'The Falcon' and repainted in a Star Wars 'Millennium Falcon' special livery promoting the 'Star Ward - Galaxy's Edge' movie.
Virgin Atlantic were due to start retiring their seven remaining B747-400's from the end of 2000, however the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 caused them to retire the aircraft early. All seven aircraft were initially stored at Manchester, UK in Mar/Apr-20.
They were gradually being moved to Ciudad Real in central Spain for long term storage and lease return. This aircraft ferried Manchester / Ciudad Real on 15-Jun-20.
It was ferried to London-Heathrow and onwards to Marana, AZ, USA in Dec-20 where it was permanently retired.

This is the 2nd version of this photo that I have put up here. However, I am not putting this up to promote my photos or look for comments or faves. I already have a version of this photo on here [2nd last photo back] that is not in any groups and I am more than happy with it, thanks. I am putting this up to show people on here how to work around the 30/60 group maximum rule that Flickr introduced over a month ago!
People who have PRO status on here can only now put there photos in 60 groups and those with non Pro status in only 30 groups. This is not enough for many of us!
However, there is a way around it in which we can put each of our photos in hundreds of groups or as many as you like by following these instructions and not breaking any rules.
There are lots of administrators of groups on here who do not want to accept Flickrs ruling as it is affecting their viewing figures so they have decided to allow us to add as many photos as we want to their groups,
but you must do this in the correct order or Flickr will block you when you have added only 60/30 photos maximum!
From tomorrow morning, Tuesday [9/1/2017] I will start adding this photo to groups and will by the end of the week, Friday,[ 12/1/2017 ] have this photo in over 100 groups.
If you drop by between tomorrow and next thurday I will have put the instructions on how to do the first stage, and then on Friday I will put up on ,how to do the 2nd/3rd final stage.
I know that lots of people dont understand how to do this as English is not there first language so please, if you are there friends and can translate for them, please do. Flickr translate is worse than useless!!! Others dont understand how to do this this because of the complications of modern technology { Im one of those who struggle with modern stuff too!} so this is why Im doing it step by step to help people understand. Its easy once you do it the first time!
Please do join the "OPT OUT GROUP"
[www.flickr.com/groups/2982691@N21/ ] where my good frends, i LOVE NatureiLOVEnature's Photography Inspiration and SaffyH SaffyH have compiled a list of the groups that have opted out of the 30/60 maximum rule and you can use as many of these groups as you like but only when stage one is complete!!!!!!! Thank you to them for explaining to me how to do his! They will also help you in any way they can including assisting administrators who wish to opt their groups out of the 30/60 restrictions!
Hopefully I will catch you here between tomorrow and Thursday and if you have any queries do message me as I will be more than pleased to help you if I can!

TUESDAY 9/1/2018
Hi all! I said Id come back this morning and start adding this photo to opt in grops { groups that have stayed with the 30/60 maximum ruling! }
I am adding the photo to 30 of these froups today and I will add it to a further 30 [total 60} on friday}
I could add it to 60 now in one hit but it is better to do it in 2 or more sections. The reason for this is as follows;
When you put up say one of your phoos and add it to one group, it immediatly goes on the first page of the group site and can be seen by all who visit that group. However as the day progresses, more people will add their photos to the group and your photo will go onto the 2nd, 3rd or 4th page etc and will disappear from public view as most people only look at the first webpage on a group site! By splitting the sixty groups into smaller sections of say 30+30 or 15 +15+15 +15 or whatever way you want to do it, your photo is getting more exposure to the public view. You could of course if you have lots of time, put your photo into 60 opt in groups today, remove it from these groups tomorrow and then add it to 60 new opt in groups. Its your choice.Just do remember that 60 is the total maximum you can leave up!!
Im now adding my photo to my 30 groups.
I will drop back on Friday next to complete step one and do step 2 [opt out groups }and step 3 if any!
By the way, to find out if a group is opt in or opt out, open the groups main page. Scroll down to the bottom and its written in the first paragraph!! Do remember to choose only opt in groups at this stage!!
This photo has 77 Faves overnight which I didnt really want but thats how good people are on here!
We will see how many extra faves, if any, it has by Friday!!
Hope your day is good and thank you for joining me!!!!

Friday 12/1/2018
Hiya!
The photo has done quite well since I put it up last Tuesday.
1250 Views! If only 25% of the people here, read this and use the "Workaround" as suggested, that would be really great!
I checked back 6 hours later, on the groups[ 30 ] I had put he photo in, and it had disappeared of their front pages. Mostly it was on the third page. This means that the photo loses interest very quickly as it is pushed further back as other members add their photos. It might be better to add the 60/30 opt in groups over a longer period of time, say 5 per day over 12 days. If course, the larger the group the photo is added to, the quicker it disappears off the front page. In smaller groups it would stay visible for longer.
Im now going to add it to the remaining 30 {Opt In } groups.
Now I have reached the maximum. I can still remove some at this stage and add other ones in but Im leaving it as is.
Im now going to add the opt out groups that I have colected. Approximately 40. { Stage 2 }
Ive finished that and including admin approval on 6 of the photos, I have now put the photo in over 100 groups. I will add more opt out ones as I find them.
It is at this point that any group invites that you have should be added. { Stage 3 }
I do hope you may find this helpful and If you have any questions, please ask and Ill do my best to answer them.
Thanks for all your Faves, comments and your kindness!

The Tap Seac Gallery was established with the mission to further public appreciation for the arts in Macao and to stimulate the creativity of the local residents. Not only has this institution been able to accomplish its goal, it has also become an important showcase for art from abroad.
Inaugurated on December 5, 2003 and run by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, the Tap Seac Gallery hosts visual arts exhibitions and promotes a series of varied cultural events.
The gallery contains approximately 500 square metres of exhibition space divided into two parts, front and back. In the centre of the venue is an enclosed patio that lets in natural light with a short flight of steps joining the front and back sections.
The front half is the main exhibition space, while the back half is used variously for exhibitions, discussions, lectures or other activities. The gallery is equipped with computers connected to the Internet enabling visitors to access additional information on culture and the arts. Closed only for the installation and removal of exhibitions or for building maintenance, the gallery is open seven days a week throughout the year, including public holidays.
The Tap Seac Gallery is located at No. 95 Avenida do Conselheiro Almeida Ferreira. The noble cultural venue is housed in an historic building with a European façade. The earthen-yellow and brick-red outer walls match wooden louvers, and window tracery design and the Moorish arched doors form decorated vertical elements. The two cornices on the front elevation sport parapets, and top frontispiece pediments give the building a distinctly European, neo-classical flair. This large, two-storey detached house and the buildings that surround it all date from the 1920’s and make up an integral part of the Tap Seac Historic District.
The building is a typical example of an upper-class family residence in Macao. After the main house was built another building was constructed behind it. When the facility was converted to an art gallery, these buildings were joined together, but to preserve historic elements, the two inner walls that originally separated the two structures were left intact and in place.

Marina Bay is a bay near Central Area in the southern part of Singapore, and lies to the east of the Downtown Core. Marina Bay is set to be a 24/7 destination with endless opportunities for people to “explore new living and lifestyle options, exchange new ideas and information for business, and be entertained by rich leisure and cultural experiences”. It is here where the most innovative facilities and infrastructure such as the underground “common services tunnel” are built and where mega activities take place.
The URA Master Plan for Marina Bay aims to encourage a mix of uses for this area, including commercial, residential, hotel and entertainment, to ensure that the area remains vibrant round the clock. All developments in the area aim to promote the 3 premises of Explore, Exchange and Entertain:
Explore – New living options. Numerous high-end residential developments are in the pipeline, including One Shenton and Marina Bay Residences which will complement The Sail @ Marina Bay to provide a seamless work-live environment at the heart of the city.
Exchange - Hub for global business. When completed, Marina Bay will double the size of the existing financial district, further cementing Singapore’s position as one of Asia's leading financial centres. It will provide 2.82 million square metres of office space, equivalent to the office space within Hong Kong's main business district, Central.
Entertain - Kaleidoscope of activities. In 2010, the opening of Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort provided more entertainment options to the area, along with the other existing entertainment and shopping districts like Esplanade, Suntec City, Marina Square, Raffles City Shopping Centre.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a 160-year-old tropical garden located at the fringe of Singapore's Orchard Road shopping district. It is one of only three gardens, and the only tropical garden, to be honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Botanic Gardens has been ranked Asia's top park attraction since 2013, by TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards. It was declared the inaugural Garden of the Year, International Garden Tourism Awards in 2012, and received Michelin's three-star rating in 2008.
The Botanic Gardens was founded at its present site in 1859 by an agri-horticultural society. It played a pivotal role in the region's rubber trade boom in the early twentieth century, when its first scientific director Henry Nicholas Ridley, headed research into the plant's cultivation. By perfecting the technique of rubber extraction, still in use today, and promoting its economic value to planters in the region, rubber output expanded rapidly. At its height in the 1920s, the Malayan peninsula cornered half of the global latex production.
The National Orchid Garden, within the main gardens, is at the forefront of orchid studies and a pioneer in the cultivation of hybrids, complementing the nation's status as a major exporter of cut orchids. Aided by the equatorial climate, it houses the largest orchid collection of 1,200 species and 2,000 hybrids.
Early in the nation's independence, Singapore Botanic Gardens' expertise helped to transform the island into a tropical Garden City, an image for which the nation is widely known. In 1981, the hybrid climbing orchid, Vanda Miss Joaquim, was chosen as the nation's national flower. Singapore's "orchid diplomacy" honours visiting head of states, dignitaries and celebrities, by naming its finest hybrids after them; these are displayed at its popular VIP Orchid Gardens.
The Singapore's Botanic Gardens is open from 5 a.m. to 12 midnight daily. There is no admission fee, except for the National Orchid Garden. More than 10,000 species of flora is spread over its 82-hectares area, which is stretched vertically; the longest distance between the northern and southern ends is 2.5 km (1.6 mi). The Botanic Gardens receives about 4.5 million visitors annually.
National Orchid Garden, Singapore
The National Orchid Garden, located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, was opened on 20 October 1995 by Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens has been developed along a 3-Core Concept. The three Cores consist of Tanglin, which is the heritage core that retains the old favourites and rustic charms of the historic Gardens; Central, which is the tourist belt of the Gardens; and Bukit Timah, which is the educational and recreational zone. Each Core offers an array of attractions.
The National Orchid Garden is located in the Central Core of the gardens.
The Garden is located on the highest hill in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Providing a place for 60,000 orchid plants - consisting of 1000 species and more than 2,000 hybrids - is the three hectares of carefully landscaped slopes.
The design concept presenting the display of plants in four separate colour zones: the spring zone with its prevailing colours of bright and lively shades of gold, yellow and creams; the summer zone with its major tones of strong reds and pinks; the autumn zone of matured shades; and the winter zone of whites and cool blues. A careful combination of selected trees, shrubs, herbs and orchids (mostly hybrids) with matching foliage and floral colours depicts the colour combination.

Wikipedia: Palazzo Davanzati is a palace which houses the Museum of the Old Florentine House. Palazzo Davanzati was erected in the second half of the 14th century by the Davizzi family, who were wealthy members of the wool guild. In 1516 it was sold to the Bartolini and, later that century, to the Davanzati family, also rich merchants (1578), who held it until 1838. After the suicide of Carlo Davanzati, it was split into different quarters and modified. After escaping the numerous demolitions of 19th century Florence, it was bought by Elia Volpi, an antiquarian, who restored It in (his impression of) the original style. In 1910, Volpi opened the building as a private museum (Museo Privato della Casa Fiorentina Antica). The contents of this museum kept changing as Volpi sold the furniture at auctions, including a major one in 1916 in New York. In the 1920s, Egyptian antique dealers Vitale and Leopoldo Bengujat acquired the building and its contents. In 1951 it was purchased by the Italian state and kept open as a museum. By 1995 the museum needed to be closed for major restoration to keep the building from falling down. The museum was partially reopened in 2005 with the ground and first floors; by 2012 all the floors were open to visitors.
