Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
The Plaza de Espana was originally designed and built as the ultimate symbol and the most ambitious project of the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition World’s Fair. The initial idea of holding a World Fair in Seville was promoted in 1909 with the aim of opening the city and, especially, to modernize it. It would be the perfect occasion to achieve civil works, thus improve employment, promote the tourism, enhance the image of Seville and strengthen relationships with American countries.
The Fair was initially going to be inaugurated on April 1st, 1911. It was then delayed to 1914 but World War I (1914-1918) and political issues between Morocco and Spain delayed it further on. It was finally held from May 9th, 1929 to June 21st, 1930.
The works of the Plaza de Espana began in 1914 and where supervised by its creator, the Sevillian architect Aníbal González. He was also the architect chief of the event and designed other buildings such as the Mudejar Pavilion (better known today as the Museo de Artes y Costumbres), the Fine Arts Pavilion (transformed later in the Archaeological Museum) and the Royal Pavilion. All of them can be found in the María Luisa Park, at the America Square (Plaza de América).
It was the most expensive and hard construction of the fair, employing at some point more than 1,000 workers. Obviously, the project went through aesthetical critics and financial difficulties, especially because Seville was in very bad economic shape.
In 1926 Aníbal González resigned from his position and the Plaza de Espana was finished in 1928 by Vicente Taverner, who added the central fountain. It was also the place where Alfonso XIII inaugurated the Fair.

"Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. ..The Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.(.)
The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside the old. This act symbolizes a welcoming of life's changes and an acknowledgment that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle."

Coronavirus hero Captain Tom Moore has been promoted to Colonel on his 100th birthday. The veteran has raised over 30 million pounds for the NHS. His big day will also be marked with a flypast by a Spitfire and a Hurricane over his Bedfordshire home.

Classical Khmer kings of medieval Cambodia promoted the notion of Devarāja, a cult of the "god-king” that provided the religious rationale for royal authority. They were depicted as divine universal rulers or deified monarchs with transcendental qualities.
The gigantic smiling faces at Bayon Temple portray the great Mahayana Buddhist king, Jayavarman VII, as a living god on earth - a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara or enlightened Buddhist saint overseeing a vast and disparate empire with an enigmatic blend of benevolence and absolute authority.
Bayon Temple served as the primary locus of the royal cult and was Jayavarman's personal mausoleum at the height of his rein over the Khmer Empire in the late 12th Century. The temple is positioned at the centre of the ancient Angkor Thom city complex and rural metropolis in northwestern Cambodia. Over 200 serenely smiling visages carved on more than 50 sandstone face-towers remain throughout the temple.

Many curious local friends inquire about my lack of exhibitionism.
Of not wanting to promote the industry of beauty so called tourism.
I just merely 'forget' to tag my images properly.
Resort-names, Country, climate, environment, etc...
Well.
I see no point. To me, beauty is everywhere.
Bangkok to Bombay to Brussels.
Beautiful.
A person who waits to unwrap his/her camera until a pre-conceived target is reached, is merely following a hollow dream.
"If I was in your location..."
"If I had your kind of camera..."
Many such comments are targeted at my photos.
Instead, I'd rather look around me.
The immediate me.
Faces, shapes, skies, land, landmarks... God.
Why does memory cards have to be limited to GBs. Why can't we have
Terabytes of storage?
There is just so much to shoot!

Above.
When I was working at Sun Island ( www.villahotels.com/sun/index.htm )
this used to be a favourite spot.
Off limits for the tourists, (because of unloading and other back-house activities) this jetty is bypassed by many, as uninteresting and ugly.
I find many photo opportunities, of both action and scenery, here.
Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder.

China, Harbin, City Impressions, St. Sophia Cathedral Place.
Heilongjiang Province, the most northeast part of China, when viewed on a map has the shape of a swan. Its capital city is Harbin, which is located south of Heilongjiang.
Not only for its special position, but also as the centre of Heilongjiang's political, economic, educational & cultural life, Harbin is described as the pearl beneath the swan's neck. Lying on the east of the Songnen Plain, what is more, Harbin plays a vital role in communications between South & North Asia as well the regions of Europe & the Pacific Ocean.
Harbin was the birthplace of Jin, 1115-1234 & Qing, 1644-1911, Dynasties, the latter of which had a very considerable influence on modern Chinese history.
At the end of the 19th century, Russia built the terminus of the Middle East Railway here. Later, more than 160,000 foreigners from 33 countries migrated to Harbin, promoting the development of a capitalist economy in the city. The economy & culture of Harbin achieved unprecedented prosperity at that time & the city gradually grew into a famous international commercial port. Assimilating external culture, Harbin created its unique & exotic cityscape. The majestic St. Sofia Orthodox Church & Zhongyang Dajie each built in a European style have the effect of bringing you into an 'eastern Moscow'. Even though you are sure to be attracted by various exotic buildings, the Dragon Tower which embodies the wisdom of the Chinese people is a must on your journey.
Besides these rich cultural heritages, Harbin is favoured with beautiful natural scenery. Based on meandering Song Hua River & subject to severe low temperatures in winter, down to -30°C, when I took this Pictures the Temperature varied between -20°C & -26°C but dry air, Harbin boasts a unique ice & snow culture. So, Harbin is also called the "Ice City".
The impressive "Ice & Snow Festival" is the greatest & unusual one in the world, therefor Harbin is also called the "Ice City".
As well the large Siberian Tiger & white tigers research centre, with about 500 tigers & a few other species, does an important work to prevent this species from extinction. The Research centre can be visited, tours in small a bus are available, passing through wide natural, separated, sections, however the focus point is to save the tigers.

Born from the bowels of the Free Art Friday Flickr Group, "It's yours, take it!" is a global free art project taking place in 5 cities. Stateside we have Chicago,Illinois, Honolulu,Hawaii and Phoenix, Arizona. Outside the land of consumption is Tel Aviv, Isreal and Portsmouth Hampshire, UK.
38 artists are contributing one piece each to these five locations. In place of curators we have "Nailers"... those that will be putting these pieces up at an impromptu outdoor location. The installations will be put up around the last weekend of March, 2008. Stay tuned for previews of finished pieces and complete photographic coverage!
DB Cargo's Class 90, 90039 in its corporate "I am the backbone of the economy" livery works in multi with Malcolm-liveried 90024 as they power 4M25 07:12 Mossend Euroterminal to Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) through Hartford.
This was the first time 90039 had worked 4M25 since its new livery was applied in December (2020) and also the first time it'd been paired up with the Malcolm Skoda.
After a couple of false starts, DB are making a push to promote electrically-hauled freight with their long-term partner, Malcolm Logistics, so it's no accident these two have been paired together.

I have always dreamed out of doing a flour shoot and for whatever wild reason- I had yet to do it until PPC. We gathered for our photo walk with Brooke on day 2 and two different shoots happening with flour and it was wonderful. I was so mesmerized watching them dance around with the flour.

Special logojet promoting 'Star Wars - Galaxy's Edge', the latest movie in the Star Wars franchise, featuring the 'Millennium Falcon'.
Final departure from Manchester for G-VLIP as it heads to Ciudad Real, central Spain, for storage.
Named: "Hot Lips", later "The Falcon" (Sep-19).
Originally ordered by GECAS for lease to Alitalia as EI-CVI, the lease was cancelled and the aircraft was leased to Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VLIP in May-01.
In May-10 it carried large 'Harry Potter' graphics until Jan-11. In Sep-19 the aircraft was renamed 'The Falcon' and repainted in a Star Wars 'Millennium Falcon' special livery promoting the 'Star Ward - Galaxy's Edge' movie.
Virgin Atlantic were due to start retiring their seven remaining B747-400's from the end of 2000, however the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 caused them to retire the aircraft early. All seven aircraft were initially stored at Manchester, UK in Mar/Apr-20.
They are gradually being moved to Ciudad Real in central Spain for long term storage and lease return. This aircraft ferried Manchester / Ciudad Real on 15-Jun-20.
It was ferried to London-Heathrow and onwards to Marana, AZ, USA in Dec-20 where it was permanently retired.
From the Bella Kotak workshop at PPC this year. I was so excited to finally learn from and meet her. She has been such a huge inspiration for me. It was really fun to incorporate something different into my work as well. <3
