last year promised a vibrant students union. So much for the vibrancy that the first round of negotiations on the Charter of Demands with the Administration was held on 15th of September! In sharp contrast, last year the final agreement was reached on 16th itself. The council believes that the act of sheer negligence and ineffectiveness the real students issues by the JNUSU President throughout the year makes her bereft of any political right to carry forward the agenda of the students at the fag end of her tenure. The council therefore resolves to start the process of handing over by deciding the dates of annual School GBMs so that the new Union can carry forward the agenda in a sustained manner in full earnest. Proposer: Dhananjay Tripathi Seconder: Favour: 12 Against: 2 Abstention: 3 Passed 21) JNUSU condems the praise that Prime Mininster Manmohan Singh sang for the good governance of British Raj during his speech at Oxford. The speech whitewashes the naked exploitation, brutal massacres and systematic violation and suppression of rights that the colonial Bitish regime heaped on Indian people for two centuries. JNUSU also condemns the dangerous signal that PM Manmohan Singh gave in his speech at US congress whereby he decleared President Bush and I agreed on a global initiative to help build democratic capabilities in all societies that seek such assisstance. JNUSU is well aware that the US initiative for peace and democracy is nothing but colonial/ imperial aggression and war in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of fighting terrorism and imposition of puppet regime in gross violation of the peoples rights of these countries..JNUSU condems any attempt by the Indian government to become part of US imperialist gameplan. .

24)The council welcomes the passing of the Employment Guarantee Act in both the House of Parliament, which was finally approved by the President of India. This Act is the result of prolonged struggle waged by the masses in the country under the banner of the Left Parties. It is due to these Struggles that the UPA was forced to incorporate it into their CMP. This Act guarantees a minimum of 100 days of employment to one member of every household in 200 districts of the country. The Left Parties played a very constructive role in raising the public opinion, both in and out of the Parliament, to ensure that the Bill gets transformed into an Act. While welcoming this Act, the council also expresses its reservations regarding some provisions in it. One of the chief areas of concern is the timing of the minimum wages for all the states at Rs. 60 per day, while bringing down the minimum wages in those states in which it is higher. The council demands that the major financial expenses for the implementation of this Act should be borne by the central government. Lastly, the council demands the extension of this Act to all the 600 district in the country, as soon as possible, to take the country out from ongoing agrarian crisis. .

27) This council criticises the Nanavati Commission Enquiry Report recently tabled on Parliament which tried to absolve the perpetrators of anti-sikh riots that took place in 1984 in Delhi which killed more than 4,500 innocent sikhs. The action taken report of congress led UPA Government which seem to be a total farce. Though it was the left parties in Parliament which consistently forced the Congress Party to put in papers of Jagdish Tytler from ministry and Sajjan Kumar, who played the lead role in provoking the miscreants for killing innocent sikhs. This Council demands that those culprits who are still at large be booked and punished and victims be paid adequate compensation, even after the 21 years of heinous and horrific occurrence. .

One of a bunch of new paintings and works on paper I've completed for my upcoming show at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery
If you wait for me then I'll come for you
Although I've traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart
If you think of me If you miss me once in awhile
Then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
If you dream of me like I dream of you
In a place that's warm and dark
In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart
I've longed for you and I have desired
To see your face, your smile
To be with you wherever you are
Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise If it's one that you can keep, I vow to come for you
If you wait for me...
and say you'll hold
A place
for me
in your heart
