Challenge using 2 provided fabrics and 1 log cabin block. Crib size.
This quilt was done in the "quilt-as-you-go" method, which finishes BOTH sides of the quilt at the same time.
A gorgeous yellow rose in my garden. It was lovely and warm today. Pretty good for the middle of autumn.

Since this was a home-based project (meaning no studio, no professional lighting, no professional staging, and with minimal budget), we had to find household stuff to create the appropriate lighting.
I have purchased a few shells from Ebay (very cheap) and intend to use them as further practice towards a Stll Life project. I didn't have all the elements to hand today so made do with a macro shot of one of the the shells
On the market. Fingers crossed for a quick sale at a decent price.

This week I give a more loose interpretation of the suggested theme. Though perhaps not off the mark at all. After all flowers should be given with an open heart.
Thank you hubby!
At the Food Show. I went with my friend, Jae. We looked at and tasted some nice stuff.
We watched Michael van der Elzen's demonstration - he was good.
We walked out of Simon Gault's demonstration - was rude to people who left early. He then said he liked to do that because then other people would stay because they were too afraid to leave. So we left.
I bought some nice stuff - you can see it here.

The Heidelberg Project was created by Tyree Guyton, and Tim Burke has his home and workspace (The Detroit Industrial Gallery on Heidelberg Street) within The Heidelberg Project as well. Many of the works in this set are created by Tim Burke, others by Tyree Guyton.
The work is characterized by recurring themes; God, war, popular culture and mnemonic 'trigger' references to childhood, religion (specifically, crosses), ironic juxtapositions, patriotic icons, and puns. The humor and double entendres abound, making this both a thoughtful and fun place to visit.

I'm knitting my magic carpet afghan again. I'd only done a few squares when I heard I was to be a grandmother so I stopped to make baby clothes.

More fabric decisions at the pop-up shop. This is pretty but I decided it was not for me.

Tonight, we started working on a simple circuit project made by Kits by Kids, a group we saw at Maker Faire. Simple switches control two circuits off a 9V battery. The first lights up an LED by way of a cup of conductive liquid - that's the one we finished this evening. The second, to be tackled later in the week, will spin a very basic motor.
Success! With the simple switch rotated into place and the cup filled with slightly acidic water, the LED glows.
I haven't been doing much today apart from a bit of housework, which is why I've added this shot. I thought I'd have a go at shooting some veg preparation, after all for me, the point of this project is to give myself daily photography exercises that I wouldn't usually do.
Tonights dinner. Chopping the vegetables for cous cous.
50mm, f2.8, 1/30s and ISO 200. Nikon speedlight used.
