Today is the first day back at work after Christmas. I told my boss that the dietician said I can eat chocolate (I had been given the wrong diet sheet). She opened her desk drawer and handed me these Christmas chocolate coins. What a lovely boss.

Inspiration: Thinking about Remembrance Day
Result: The women pilots of the Air Transport Auxiliary (kitty style of course)
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Micron 005, 02 pens in a Moleskine plain journal
Location: At home
Note: I've read about the various WWII Allied Air Corps since I was a child so....there might be more of this kind of thing happening on paper in the future.
To learn more about some of the women who flew Spitfires, Hurricanes, Mustangs, etc. during WWII please see here: www.airtransportaux.com/firsteight.html
and if you have an hour, watch this wonderful BBC4 documentary:
ALL of this is brought on by the current story arc in the comic, Captain Marvel, which features tenacious lady flyers :3

Working on a new sign project this week. A recreation out of wood of the COLOR TV by RCA sign that used to be featured as an add on sign on many Motel signs in the 60s throught the 70s.
There are still motels with the black background / multicolored sign still hanging but the RCA TV's have been replaced by flatscreens by Vizzio, Samsung, etc...
I've got the backing board to do next. The letters are 5 & 7/8" tall.
When completed the sign should measure out to around 42" x 8".
Taken with Nikon FE with 50mm f1.8 on Kodak ColorPlus 200 film. And scanned with Epson Perfection v370.
Projects must run in the family. From me and my winemaking / photography, to my father's constant home improvements, and more ambitious endeavors, there's always something that's not quite complete at my parents house. I guess that's what makes it home.

What is the atlas project? Inspired by the Greek myth of Atlas (the poor aul chap had to hold the sky up on his shoulders as a punishment, wiki it for details) I'm taking anonymous pictures of people's backs and posing them the question "What is the weight on your shoulders?" The responses can be seen on the blog latlasproject.tumblr.com/
