It's cold today. Too cold. Seriously. All today is really good for is being inside and drinking hot chocolate.

For those keeping track, this a peppermint hot chocolate from Henry's.

On a cold January day, the poor boy tried to get some candies from my momma.

But having had quite a few, my momma said "No!"

and that sent the boy spiraling into a mad frenzy.

He whined and he cried,

and then he whined some more

but my mom wouldn't budge.

"No means no!"

So the little boy jumped up and ran out of the house.

He fled through the night until he came across a field.

He laid among the flowers and cried under the snowy sky.

And as the snow fell, so did his tears;

and with each falling tear, his eyes closed a little,

Soon, the sobbing stopped

and before long, he was sound asleep.

Okayyyy, before you chuckle and exclaim "There goes Sherry's wild imagination again", just remove the OVERLY DRAMATIC parts, and I can assure you this was really what happened!

Kids can get so dramatic these days. I ought to really create a story/photobook and title it "The Everyday Life of the Dramatic Boy"

Any restaurant that serves press pot for coffee has my vote!

Went back to Fleur (at Mandalay Bay) 2 more times! It was so good. See below for a couple more shots of the steak frites (garlic fries!) and tuna tacos....you already saw the tomato flambe yesterday (his name for a flatbread pizza)

I used the ProHDR on these so you could see a bit more detail (especially in the steak)....the lighting was dim where we were but we were looking out into a very bright area so photo-wise it was a challenge and tough for my poor iPhone to manage. These shots are a bit grainy but you get the gist!

Back later today =]

I believe those are private one family houses. So jealous!

BTW, Pizza Box pizza tastes like roller rink pizza, or Chuck E Cheese. But I'd go back just to enjoy the outdoor seating and pretend for a moment that I live in one of these houses. This guy took better pictures of the restaurant, if you're interested.

Autumn brings a feast of colours to the deciduous trees. Between showers, the dark stormy skies and a vibrant red sunrise added to the fantastic atmosphere.

The option to shoot a sequence of 3 photos with different exposures was added to the PureShot iPhone camera replacement app in a recent update. These provide the inputs for true HDR images. In this instance, I tried combining all 3 using the Mobile HDR app, but there were some distracting blocky artifacts of the blending process present in the sky region. The 2-shot ProHDR image shown here also has some artifacts - an arcuate blending gradient in the sky region - but this was less distracting.

Unedited, although the iPhone camera apps are sort of edits in themselves! I used prohdr to take this shot, about 4:00 PM PST - great lighting and NO FOG! A blessing!

Although considered a better location for afternoon and evening shots, I thought the colors immediately after sunrise were quite intense.

I think the definition of filial piety had changed. In the past, respecting your parents, not going against them, never raising your voice (or fist at them) and maybe even slaving like mad just to ensure ur parents can live well are all actions of piety.

Yet now, I think as long as the kid actually listens to u for even a minute, that is considered good enough.

Oh, how the world has changed!

It was very eerie. I just stopped by to put some fuel in my car.

I photographed this with my iPhone using the ProHDR app and further processed using the Plastic Bullet App.

I also used Photoshop to denoise it a bit.
