The European University Cyprus Orientation Program is designed to welcome new students to the University community, facilitating the process of settling into a new and unfamiliar environment. Orientation days are organized every semester, two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. Faculty and staff are on hand to show students around campus, advise on University policies and regulations, and discuss the selection of courses.

Prosperidad Social ha atendido con su Programa Red de Seguridad Alimentaria a 18.559 familias en el Departamento de Córdoba, con una inversión de más de $12 mil millones de pesos. Lo anterior es producto de un proceso de atención gradual en los 31 municipios del departamento a través de las líneas de intervención ReSA® Rural, Urbano y CuNa®.
El pasado 29 de Octubre, la Subdirectora General de Prosperidad Social, Mariana Escobar, estuvo en San Antero y San Andrés de Sotavento en un encuentro y gira con las familias beneficiarias de estos municipios para conocer de cerca los resultados de la intervención, la experiencia de las comunidades y revisar los avances del programa en los municipios cordobeses.
Escobar reconoció la importancia de trabajar articuladamente con los gobiernos locales y el aporte de la comunidad, "El involucramiento de la comunidades desde la etapa previa hasta la finalización de los proyectos es fundamental, es la única forma en que los programas se legitiman ante la comunidad y por ello la importancia de aprender a escuchar a los territorios, conocer su necesidades y responder a ello de la manera más apropiada posible, en algunos casos con enfoque diferencial y teniendo un profundo respeto por las tradiciones, las culturas y la forma en la que sus pobladores entienden el desarrollo. De manera que, la participación de las comunidades define el éxito de la intervención", concluyó.
Un primer espacio fue en el Centro de Recursos Educativos CREM de San Antero donde familias beneficiarias estuvieron participando del encuentro motivacional "Hábitos y Estilos de Vida saludable "ReSA CuNa, el cual exalta la importancia de los hábitos alimentarios, estilos de vida saludable, el comer en familia, entre otros. Posterior, la Subdirectora General de Prosperidad Social, realizó la entrega de 180 filtros de agua para la potabilización y el consumo adecuada de esta.
Para el municipio de San Antero durante el Gobierno Santos, se han atendido un total de 420 familias con una inversión exclusiva de Prosperidad Social de $ 237 millones de pesos a través de la línea de intervención ReSA CUNA. Actualmente se están atendiendo en el municipio un total de 180 familias con una inversión de $ 83 millones de pesos.
Por otro lado, 80 familias participantes de ReSA® en San Andrés de Sotavento mostraron los resultados de su proyecto ReSA® - Agricultura familiar, el cual consistió en el montaje de huertas de autoconsumo, canteros y comercialización de excedentes bajo el acompañamiento de Prosperidad Social con el apoyo de la Asociación Misión Indígena ZEN.
Argelio José Nisperuza, Indigena Zenú de San Andrés de Sotaveno, y quien está terminando su carrera en Técnico Agropecuario del SENA, comentó: "Anteriormente, nosotros desperdiciábamos mucho el terreno, no sembrábamos en nuestros patios y cuando lo hacíamos era de manera dispersa en la tierra, no teníamos el suficiente conocimiento.
Ahora vivimos un gran cambio, hemos aprendido junto a los técnicos de Prosperidad Social a realizar zanjas y hacer más productiva la siembra. Ya no salimos a comprar mil de verduras sino que recogemos de nuestros huertas lo cultivado, alimentos más saludables y un gran ahorro para nuestras familias".
Para el municipio de San Andres de Sotavento durante el Gobierno Santos, se han atendido un total de 978 familias con una inversión exclusiva de Prosperidad Social de $983 millones de pesos a través de las líneas de intervención ReSA Rural, Urbano y CUNA. Actualmente se están atendiendo en el municipio un total de 240 familias con una inversión de $ 272 millones de pesos.

During a Native American history-themed sleepover at the National Archives in Washington, DC, 101 kids and their grown-ups spent the night enjoying history-related activities, learning from special guests actor Martin Sensmeier, Jim Thorpe historians Bob Wheeler and Flo Ridlon, and Native American storyteller Perry Ground. After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.

UNLV’s Public History Program and University Libraries Bring Culinary Union History to the Community -
LAS VEGAS, NV - The graduate students of the Public History Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the UNLV University Libraries have teamed up to present an exhibit that captures the important history of one of the nation’s most recognizable unions, the Culinary Workers Union, Local 226, the largest local of UNITE HERE. “Line in the Sand: The People, Power, and Progress of the Culinary Union” is open to the public and will be on display from Dec. 5, 2014, through April 1, 2015, on the first floor of UNLV’s Lied Library.
This exhibit is the product of growing partnership that was forged between the Culinary Union and UNLV two years ago. Last spring, the Culinary Union invited students of UNLV’s Public History Program, under the guidance of Dr. Deirdre Clemente, to explore its storage sheds and closets to learn more about the largest union in Nevada. There, students discovered hidden treasures - various display objects such as banners, buttons, t-shirts, picket signs, photographs, and personal memorabilia just waiting to be curated and shared with the public for the first time.
The objects, however, represent only part of the Culinary Union’s rich history of nearly 80 years. The exhibit would continue to take shape as the stories of union members were gathered by students under the tutelage of UNLV Libraries’ Oral History Research Center (OHRC) Director Claytee White and facilitated by Bethany Khan, Director of Digital Strategy for the Culinary Union.
Oral histories containing stories from the 1960s to present day breathe additional life into the objects displayed behind the glass and provide insight into the experiences of those who have been part of the Culinary Union and Las Vegas’ world famous hospitality industry. Sound bites from union members and leaders will be available through QR codes that can be activated by visitors’ smartphones as they walk through the exhibit, adding another dimension to the experience of “Line in the Sand.”
UNLV celebrates the innovative collaboration with the Culinary Union that has enabled the history of Nevada’s largest labor organization to be shared with the greater Southern Nevada community through this dynamic exhibit.
“Central to the mission of the UNLV Libraries is to collect materials and oral histories that document Southern Nevada,” said Patricia Iannuzzi, Dean of the UNLV University Libraries. “The story of this region cannot be told without the voices and materials of its workers. UNLV Libraries and our Oral History Research Center are proud to help facilitate this wonderful student-led project.”
The exhibit will also highlight the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas, an internationally recognized model for labor-management cooperation, workplace education and vocational training, and the Culinary Health Fund, which provides medical coverage for over 120,000 participants in Nevada
“Line in the Sand” is presented in cooperation with the Culinary Union, the Bartenders Union, UNLV University Libraries, the College of Liberal Arts, the Nevada State Museum, and the Las Vegas News Bureau.

High School Programs Summer Link to College: As one of VIP's most popular programs, Summer Link to College has continued to provide students with a taste of college life. Summer Link is a five-day college experience. Summer Link is a five-day college experience. Students entering their junior year of high school live on the DU campus and participate in a number of college activities. During the summer of 2007, forty-two students from several local high schools joined eleven Summer Link coordinators for an exciting week at the University of Denver. This past summer, VIP expanded the program to include high school students from Abraham Lincoln, Denver Center for International Studies, Denver School of Science and Technology, Denver West, and Pinnacle Charter School. To make Summer Link a true college experience, students participate in a mixture of academic and social activities. For the academic portion of the program, students attended one of three classes taught by DU professors, English, Natural Science, or Web Design. In addition to taking classes, students also participated in workshops that included: presentation skills, health and fitness, and relationships. The Summer Link students also had opportunities to attend cultural events. The most popular event was dinner at Buca Di Beppo, a local Italian restaurant, and attendance at a theatre production of "The Little Mermaid."Based on the response of the students, Summer Link was particularly special this past summer due to the eclectic mix of different schools. Having a college experience with people from different schools allowed the students to create new friendships, which have strengthened throughout the school year. The program has helped to develop these friendships by offering workshops for the students during the school year. This upcoming summer, the program will expand to include additional students and new workshops. The United Nations' Girls Up Initiative hosts their annual Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. On July 16th, 2019, young leaders from around the world gather to attend a night of events at the National Archives.
The East Valley Regional Cadet Program runs October through May and is a youth educational program supported by several of the East Valley’s Fire and Medical departments. It is designed for males and females aged 14 through 18.
The Hospital Outreach Program brings the Magic of Camp to children and families in the hospital setting. By offering unique, creative and developmentally appropriate activities and interactions, we help to bring joy and laughter in a time often laden with fear, stress and uncertainty. We work closely with hospital staff on improving the quality of life during treatment. The Hospital Outreach Program brings the joy and fun of Camp’s programs to seriously ill children year-round. As with other Camp programs, it is available to children and families at no cost.
