After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.

The Centralia Flower & Garden Club of Centralia, MO, member FGCM, Central District, NGC Inc., hosted another in the continuing series of programs and seminars as part of our involvement in the Garden Center project for which we have won several awards including regional and national. The topic on August 17 was 'FEARS AND PHOBIAS...snakes, spiders and bugs, oh my!' Educational Conservationist Kathi Moore brought her 3 pet snakes, and informed people about the positive aspects of these critters in our landscapes. Many children attended, all won doorprizes, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Another program is being planned for early November. For our August club meeting, 9 members traveled to Jefferson City, MO to tour the nature trails at Runge Conservation area. Then, at the September meeting, Arlene Grace (member, master gardener, national garden consultant life member) presented a program on planting trees, shrubs and bulbs in the fall. Also, 3 members displayed their arrangements that are to go to public places as part of another of our community projects.

6-52 Air Defense Artillery

SUWON AIR BASE — Female Soldiers in the 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery met in Suwon Gym for the unit’s female mentorship program.

The training began with education on sexual assault prevention and response, followed by light stretching and upper body exercising.

First Lt. James Eide, who led the mentorship session, conducted a class on Cross fit, combining several exercises. Before doing the cross fit, he taught them theory about how to do exercise efficiently and when is the good time for exercise. He also taught about nutrition, explaining ways to maintain and improve health by dividing nutrition into fat, protein, vitamin, and mineral categories. After the classroom instruction, a workout followed.

Private First Class Nancy Cumberledge found the training worthwhile, and especially liked its emphasis on life values and good health.

Th mentorship programs aims to help women of 6-52 navigate their careers and guide them in successfully combining full-time careers with satisfying personal and family lives.

University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto joined the president of the UK Student Development Council, Jonathon Nunley, Kentucky Historical Society Marker Program Coordinator Becky Riddle and others April 15 in dedicating the latest addition to the Live Blue Legacy historical marker program. The marker is made possible through donations from members of the Class of 2012.

This historical highway marker, the 19th in a series, pays tribute to UK student traditions dating back more than 100 years.

An early rivalry between freshman and sophomore classes on the UK campuses was the annual 'Flag Rush' competition where one class would defend their flag from being captured by a rush of competitors.

Replacing the flag rush in 1913 was the 'Tug of War' across Clifton Pond. Students were granted a half-holiday for the annual drenching, and crowds could reach more than 2,000 for the event.

The dedication ceremony and unveiling of the marker took place at a site located near the William T. Young Library on the UK campus. A reception followed.

Since 1994, the Live Blue Legacy Program has supported the placement of Kentucky Historical Society Highway Markers across the UK campus. The Live Blue Legacy Program is administered by the Student Development Council, whose members solicit gifts from members of the graduating class, in this case the Class of 2012. These funds are used to purchase, install and dedicate a marker in the name of that particular class.
