USG successfully hosted the second annual Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) Summer Bridge Program from June 16-19, 2015. ACES seeks to support students and create a seamless pathway from high school to college completion.
ACES focuses on career preparation and exploration. Rising seniors from local high schools participate in activities that develop leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills essential for success in today's workforce.
Coaching and support will continue for ACES scholars as they pursue their education with Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, and the Universities at Shady Grove.

To stem the exodus from the Holy Land and more specifically from Israel, the FFHL is holding the ‘educational doors of opportunity’ open for the Christian community in the Holy Land. The Franciscan Foundation pays for 4 years of college including tuition and books for economically marginalized students who maintain a B average throughout high school. These scholarship grants are available to any student from any Christian denomination wishing to apply for a four year college program. The winners of the scholarship grants are chosen by the FFHL Scholarship Board made up of four professors residing in the U.S.
Each student selected must show a letter of acceptance from the university they are planning to attend and once that is validated, they can begin studies in the fall and payment for their school tuition commences.

A new bridge deck at South 192nd Street in SeaTac is taking shape. The bridge replaces a city street so the future SR 509 Expressway can run underneath it. This bridge will carry people walking, biking, and driving over the expressway. It includes wide, ADA accessible sidewalks to better serve the community.
The SR 509 Completion Project is part of the Puget Sound Gateway Program, which completes the missing links in Washington state's highway and freight network.

Lucile MacRae’s life was hardly that of a typical young woman of the 1920′s, and Huntington resident Sue Jepsen has the diaries and artifacts to prove it. Jepsen, who is MacRae’s second cousin once removed, is the current caretaker of many precious items inherited from Lucile and her mother, Agnes, souvenirs of the many years they spent living and traveling in East Asia. She’s also the transcriber of Lucile’s diaries, many of which describe Lucile’s experiences in the Phillippines, China, Canton, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sumatra, Java, Thailand, and Japan. Jepsen told Lucile MacRae’s story in the program, From Singapore to Nagasaki: The 1919 Diary of an American Woman Abroad.
Pass Christian - Breaux Prichard House - 513 East Scenic Drive - Phil and Mary Helen Schaeffer
The Schaeffer House in Pass Christian, Miss., received $125,000 from the Hurricane Relief Grant Program for Historic Preservation. The grants were used to repair and restore historically significant structures, both publicly and privately owned, that suffered hurricane damage. The total amount awarded thus far through the grant program is more than $21 million. As part of the Hurricane Recovery Program, NCPTT assisted FEMA with condition assessment of damaged collections and provided technical assistance in collections recovery after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. With this project, NCPTT's Sean Clifford and Jason Church assisted Jenifer Eggleston of the Historic Preservation Grants program of the National Park Service in documenting the homes that participated in the hurricane recovery grant program.
