Victory Programs' 2017 Dinnerfest RED Party + Auction was one for the record books with a celebrity-style step and repeat, returning rock-star auctioneer Kathy Kingston and premium prizes including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw the first pitch at PRIDE night at Fenway park that sold for nearly $5,000 after Dinnerfest co-chair Tiffani Faison upped the anti not once, not twice, but three times, sweetening the deal with additional goodies courtesy of her 2nd restaurant, Sweet Cheeks Q which happens to be steps away from Fenway Park, live on stage to motivate bidders.

In this experiential program, students learn about Chesapeake geography, social studies, and economics by following the blue crab on its journey from the brackish Bay to our picnic tables. The program focuses on the people who earn their livelihood from the crabbing industry. Students have a chance to walk in their shoes by working a trotline activity, picking stuffed crabs at a packing house, ordering from a restaurant on a migrant worker’s wages, and culling their dredge catch. Lago Agrio.- Alrededor de USD 28 millones destinará la Unión Europea (UE) para impulsar el Programa “Frontera Norte: Territorio de Desarrollo y Paz” que integra varias acciones para el crecimiento económico y protección de derechos humanos en cuatro provincias del país. El lanzamiento de esta iniciativa se realizó hoy, en Lago Agrio, con la presencia del vicepresidente de la República, Otto Sonnenholzner.
Este programa beneficiará a 16 gobiernos autónomos descentralizados municipales de Esmeraldas, Carchi, Imbabura y Sucumbíos. En este contexto, el segundo mandatario indicó que no puede existir desarrollo sin paz y señaló los tres ejes de acción de esta propuesta, “el primero está relacionado con llevar el progreso mediante infraestructura básica, sobre todo en las zonas rurales más alejadas. El segundo tiene que ver con el acompañamiento, asesoría y financiamiento de proyectos productivos, y el tercero con las alertas tempranas para la paz”.
Los fondos provenientes de 28 países miembros de la Unión Europea serán invertidos en iniciativas para la inserción laboral de jóvenes en situación de vulnerabilidad. Otra de las estrategias se enfocará en actividades de información y campañas para fortalecer la cultura de paz y la oferta financiera adaptada a las necesidades de los productores de la región.
