The Civil Society Programme took place from Thursday 14 May through Friday 15 May. The Programme in 2015 introduced a new approach to the flagship event of the EBRD engagement with civil society.

For the first time, CSOs had the chance to shape the Civil Society Programme through a social media consultation. In addition, CSOs were invited to submit proposals for the organisation of discussion panels dedicated to issues of specific interest to the Caucasus region and stakeholders in the EBRD.

Before launching Fail Forward, Ashley worked in Cairo with the United Nations Environment Programme and as a management consultant in Vancouver, Canada. In both lines of work, Ashley saw a fear of failure inhibit innovation, adaptation, and general growth. In response, she launched both AdmittingFailure.com and the consulting firm, Fail Forward, to spark a shift in how civil society perceives and talks about failure, and to help organizations learn, innovate and build resilience. Since early 2011 Ashley has worked with organizations – from grantmakers and nonprofits to government and private sector companies – to use failure as a learning tool and culture driver to support and foster innovation. She is well known for building the Organizational Learning Team at Engineers Without Borders Canada, and continuing to lead the development of their annual Failure Report.

Her work on failure has received coverage in a wide range of media and news outlets, including the Stanford Social Innovation Review, The Guardian, Harvard University’s Hauser Center for NonProfit Organizations, TED talks, BBC World, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Globe and Mail and, most recently in interview with Arlene Dickinson on CBC. Ashley was also the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Harvard Business Review and McKinsey Innovating Innovation Award.

Fail Forward is a mission-driven consulting organization founded by award-winning innovator Ashley Good, that aims to foster a culture of intelligent failure on both the individual and organizational level. By creating a safe space to openly discuss failure, and offering clients a set of tools and practices to deal with failure intelligently, Fail Forward helps organizations to turn failure into a catalyst for adaptation, innovation, and resilience. Founded in 2011, Fail Forward works with a variety of business and non-profit organizations, including Engineers Without Borders Canada and The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a specialized agency of the United Nations. Ashley Good is a sought-after speaker who has traveled throughout Europe, Scandinavia and North America to share her ideas and practices on intelligent failure.

12 March 2021, Ndemban village, Foni Berefet District, West Coast Region, The Gambia.

Amie Fabureh, Minister of Agriculture ear-tags the first cattle duirng the event. The partnership between the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), and FAO has reached a milestone with the launch of the first-ever CATTLE IDENTIFICATION AND TRACEABILITY SYSTEMS (GCITS) in The Gambia. It was celebrated with an ear-tagging cattle event.

Cattle rustling (stealing farm animals) is a major problem affecting many livestock owners and herders. The economic losses often force them to take protective measures to protect their animals from theft.

In a ceremony held in Ndemban village, the Minister of Agriculture, Amie Fabureh, launched the GCITS by getting hands-on and tagging the first cattle with the number “00001”.

Fabureh lauded the initiative, noting that the livestock identification system will benefit the sub-sector significantly by preventing theft, recording breeding performance, management, proof of ownership, etc.

"Traceability is the basis of any security system for food safety and epidemiological surveillance for animal diseases. For this reason, there is a growing demand for the identification of livestock and livestock products from the point of origin to the point of consumption," Fabureh said and commended the project for providing two cattle drinking facilities in the West Coast Region and South of the Central River Region.

Mustapha Ceesay, Assistant FAO Representative and Head of Programmes, represented the FAO Country Representative Ms Moshibudi Rampedi at the ceremony. He explained, the project initiated the livestock identification and traceability systems because it found that the practice successfully reduced theft and resolved livestock-related conflicts in South and Eastern Africa. The Gambia Cattle Identification and Traceability Systems (GCITS) is a pilot project that will introduce the first appropriate livestock identification and traceability system.

As in previous years, the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) of the EBRD invited its

members and everyone interested in the topic of international and intra-regional trade finance banking to attend the annual TFP event within the framework of the Annual Meeting. TFP currently includes over 100 Issuing Banks in the EBRD region and more than 800 Confirming Banks worldwide. In the last two years, the Programme provided essential support to its members and secured substantial flows of trade finance transactions under crisis-ridden market conditions. This year’s one-day event organised in a conference format offered a unique opportunity to share contemporary trade finance banking expertise including trends, specifics, and intricacies through presentations by professional trade finance bankers and specialists. The event also provided the stage for signing agreements with banks that have recently joined and hosted an award ceremony for the most active TFP banks of 2011

Euston Park Rural Pastimes Event

Celebrating 21 Years!

A traditional, English Country Fair for all the family.

Has now been held every June for 21 years. It began as a fundraising show for our local Blackbourne Churches and St Nicholas' Hospice Care with the kind permission of our President The Duke of Grafton, who allowed the event to be held in the magnificent setting of Euston Park.

Together with John Farrow (the farm manager at that time) and Tim Fogden we set up a volunteer committee, which has continued to run this successful one day Show. We have raised over £370,000 for our causes over the years.

The programme has been broadly similar each year, but with increasing entries the demand for space has required more parking and display areas. A new entrance between the stationary engines and stalls, leads past the traction engines to the new Grafton Ring specifically for tractors.

The main Norfolk Ring has a constant programme of events, displays, demonstrations and parades. It is surrounded by band music, a busy tea tent and further stalls. Leading past the Craft Tent, the Suffolk Ring is home to a large display of Heavy Horses. Nearby is the start of the hugely popular Farm Rides. It has also been associated with a magnificent display of flowers in Euston Church.

There are several catering outlets, but the most popular are the excellent lunches served in the Hall kitchen.

Keeping very much to the same format we hope to continue to attract the numbers, which filled the car park completely last year.

What to see:

Steam Engines (Traction Engines, Road Roller, Commercial and Public Service Vehicles)
