The series that sprinkles a touch of glitz and glamour to the cold winter months, returns to our screens and unwraps a bevy of well known stars, dazzling costumes and a host of twists and turns both on and off the ice.

2018 internship programme - Tea gatherings with Heads of Divisions (2018.06.21)
This programme is from a Bound Volume of a complete set of Home League and FA Cup programmes that was once the former property of the Manchester United manager Mr.A.Scott Duncan.
It was common when producing the seasons programmes in a book form that were only issued to the Directors, Management that the front covers were removed, many times these programme "Books" will appear with the covers on as well, it is the luck of the draw whatever turns up over the years.
Manchester United won 3-2 with goals from Manley, Bryant & Mutch. Attendance around 30,000.
Manchester United finished the season as 2nd Division Champions.

PHOTOGRAPHS RELATED TO MS NEWMAN AND FAMILY
The donor was born in Manchester in 1900, her father Canton (Rev.) Harris Newman had been appointed Cantor of the Great Synagogue in 1895, a post he held till 1941. Harris Newman came to England from Poland where he was born in Lodz in 1863. The donor is his daughter from his second marriage in the late 1890s, by a previous marriage he had a son Sam and another daughter. The donor's mother Augusta (nee Lasgelt or Lasergelt) was the daughter of a Rabbi, she was born in Austria but educated in England.
The donor was educated at the Brussels Conservatoire. The donor sang at the Knocke Casino in Belgium in 1926 and she appeared in cabaret in Knocke in the 1930s. She was offered a job with Belgium radio but returned to England to look after her father. The donor married Nathan Goldman in 1939, he lived in Oxford Road, Manchester. The marriage was not a successful one. The donor's brother, Philip was born in 1904. Also the donor had a brother called Monty. Philip Newman was taught by Adolf Brotsky at the Accademy of Music and in 1924 enrolled in the Brussels Conservatoire. He went to Berlin and Vienna to further his career in music. In 1937 he was introduced to Queen Elisabeth of Belgium and became of one the Queen's favourite musicians, becoming the court violinist. Escaping from the German invasion in World War II, Philip Newman went to Portugal and in 1942 was appointed Professor at the Academy of Music, Lisbon. He was made a Commander of the Order of Santiago de Espado. After the war he gave concerts to raise money for the Red Cross and in the 1950s toured the Belgian Congo, Angola and South Africa, giving free concerts to the natives. In the early 1960s he founded the Pollensa Musical Festival (Majorca). He died of a heart attack on 23rd November 1966.
Here is a programme to commemorate one particular locomotive of the Great Western designed Manor class, 7822 "Foxcote Manor". Rescued from Woodhams Barry Island scrapyard, it was restored to full working order in 1987 and spent the next ten years at work on the Llangollen Railway in Wales. The time came when 7822 needed another full overhaul and this DVD has been made to further the work necessary to allow her to work a further ten years. Using archive film from BR days, the story of the development of the class is first told from the 43xx class moguls to scenes depicting ten of the Manor class on their duties from Redhill in the south to the Cambrian lines in the north. More archive film of its dismantling at Oswestry, through to steaming trials at Llangollen. Highlights of 7822s work at Llangollen shows her working service trains, freight, parcels and special events like Santa trains. Spectacular double heading with another Manor, two prairie tanks, Standard Class 4, Castle and uniquely with A4 60009. The whole profit from this programme goes to the Foxcote Manor Society, all material used in this production being free of charge, for B & R Video Productions and Foxcote Manor members wish to see her back in service once again.

The Civil Society Programme took place on Wednesday 11 May and Thursday 12 May and provided an opportunity for dialogue between civil society and EBRD staff, senior management, the President and Board Directors. It was an occasion for civil society stakeholders to learn more about the Bank and discuss issues of interest and concern regarding the EBRDâs policies and investment projects.
The Programme also featured multi-stakeholder roundtable sessions on key strategic themes related to the role of civil society as an important actor in transition and development processes. Special features of the Civil Society Programme 2016 were discussions on:

â¢Engaging civil society to promote transparent procurement
â¢EBRDâs Strategy for the Promotion of Gender Equality (2016-2020): the role of civil society
â¢Inclusion through skills and innovatiom
In addition, a panel organised by the youth organisation AIESEC looked at the role of youth in shaping the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Civil society, operating in the space between public and private sectors, has played an important role in socio-political and economic transition processes around the world, including the EBRDâs traditional countries of operations. In 25 years since the establishment of the EBRD, civil societyâs contribution to transition has varied across the post-communist transition region. In some countries, the work of civil society organisations (CSOs) has contributed to more democratic political systems and more open market based economies as a âreputational actorâ performing a âwatchdogâ function and as a generator of âsocial capitalâ necessary to sustain the change process through the difficult early years. In other countries, the focus of CSOs has been on providing a variety of social services particularly to disadvantaged and vulnerable people negatively affected by the transition process. Many civil society actors have been operating in restrictive regulatory environments, and have relied heavily on international donor funding.
What has been civil societyâs input into promoting good governance, sustainable development and economic inclusion in EBRDâs traditional region over the past few decades? What are the key lessons learned, from both its successes and failures that can be applied to other countries embarking on a transition process? What steps could be taken to increase the role of civil society in promoting positive changes in societies and economies?
The discussion looked back at the key achievements and setbacks of the civil society sector in contributing to transition since the Bankâs establishment. It also reflected upon the challenges ahead for civil society in building well-governed, sustainable and inclusive economies and societies.

EU4Youth programme
Young people in Azerbaijan are showing a growing interest in citizenship education, community engagement and youth participation in decision-making processes. This is just one of the impacts as the EU4Youth programme closes its latest five-year cycle, and draws conclusions from the data collected over the period of its activity in Azerbaijan.
As recorded in the programme’s yearly reports, EU4Youth actions in Azerbaijan have included direct training and mentoring, matchmaking between employees and employers, grants to new businesses, policy to create new jobs and improve skills, tailoring education to the market, and local initiatives to support the most vulnerable young people.

The Civil Society Programme took place from Thursday 14 May through Friday 15 May. The Programme in 2015 introduced a new approach to the flagship event of the EBRD engagement with civil society.
For the first time, CSOs had the chance to shape the Civil Society Programme through a social media consultation. In addition, CSOs were invited to submit proposals for the organisation of discussion panels dedicated to issues of specific interest to the Caucasus region and stakeholders in the EBRD.
