Did you know the Film Photography Project provides refurbished and tested vintage film cameras free-of-charge to schools and not-for-profit organizations with film programs nationwide? When we started the program nearly a decade ago, we had no idea the demand would continue – much less grow! More and more educational and arts organizations are adding a film component to their photography courses, and the FPP is here for them. In 2024 alone, we’ve supplied over 300 working vintage cameras to High School, College and Arts Programs photography programs including Pickerington High School Central Ohio / California High School in San Ramon CA, Columbia University / BIPA grant program in NYC, ProPhound Kids Inc., RVCC Arts and Desgin in Branchburg NJ, Edgerton Jr. Sr. High School in Edgerton OH, Southeastern School District in Chillicothe OH and Woodrow Wilson High School in Los Angeles CA among others. This is all my working camera equipment, excepting my cell phone.
The Canon 5D2 is burdened with doing most of the work. Mine's a few years old now, and it's how I re-taught myself photography. Still in constant use.
The Canon Digital Rebel was my first SLR. I used it exclusively for years, before getting the 5D2. It just holds down the shelf, now-a-days. I attached a lens specifically for this photo, normally it's naked.
The Minolta SLR was my father's, until he abandoned film. I don't use it much, because the lens is annoying, and the body is far too automatic. This must've been a cheap camera at the time, it's barely a step ahead of a point-n-shoot, in terms of functionality.
The Canon Rebel 2000 was something I picked up a few years ago for $20. I let's me use the fancy lenses on film, and that is it's sole purpose in life.
The Canon AE-1 Program is a new acquisition, it and I are still getting to know each other.
The Pentax 645 I've had for about 1.5 years, and it's my new lover. I picked it up wanting to shoot medium format, and it was like we were meant for each other.
The Balda Baldinette and Kodak 620 were both inherited recently from family. The 620's first roll of film is at the lab currently, and the Baldinette is on frame 31 of 36 on it's first roll, soon to be completed.
The PowerShot S200 was my first digital camera, a birthday gift from my parents while I was in college.
The PowerShot S100 was picked up recently just for it's small size.

Prompted on World Parrot Day, and with the extraordinary co-operative effort of the photographer, here we have a rare find.
This kākāpō chick was in the able care of hands from the Kākāpō Recovery Program . The photographer was the enthralled witness to this scene.
Please don't ask for more details as refusal may offend…or I might have to cook my own dinner.
Pronunciation tip: it sounds like car-car-paw

My old editing program finally gave up the ghost, it hasn't been supported in many years. I downloaded the latest from Nikon, it's very similar to the old one but is still different. I hate change. I'll get used to it, eventually...I liked the way Joe Dog was laying last night and fumbled thru editing this shot :-)
I'm sure I have seen this before somewhere; however, as I was walking through the streets in rainy Portland, this one resonated with me. I laughed out loud and went on my way happier for finding it.
I'm easily amused.

Tigger helping me with programming my color library manger program. ("Pair programming" is a methodology where two programmers use one computer to write programs. It's as odious as it sounds and is just one of the silly, trendy things that managers love to do to show how much they "get" programmers.)

I didn't like it.
This camera acts like a P&S; manipulating the shutter and aperture requires thinking and some extra pushing of stuff.
If you shoot a lot of over and under exposures, it's difficult to tell where you are as all the meter does is blink.
If you got one you know what I mean.
I suppose I could get used to it, but why not just get an A1?
